It pains me to sell my 1985 280E, but the wife says it must go, too many cars. I needed a small wagon so now I cannot keep this car. I bought this car 18 months ago from the original owner who purchased it in Germany in 1985, drove it 600 miles abroad and then shipped it home. It had 56K when I bought it and now has almost 74K (I have been driving it and loving it). The mileage is certainly original. The car is extremely clean underneath. This car is loaded with power sunroof, AC, power windows, heated seats, stereo with ipod plug, rear defroster, elec passenger side mirror, powered antenna, etc. Original Becker radio is in the trunk. This car has been a driver, not a garage queen. I would like to keep it and make it a garage queen but I have no room. It drives very nice, as it should. The only quirks are the gas gage and temp warning sometimes peg (both peg together) because there must be a short somewhere. When the car is in reverse the gages act fine. I think there may be a short with the reverse lights switch? Also, the sunroof needs seals. I have put a little RTV on the right side as it leaked occasionally (when it poured), the drains seem to be working. The car has a brand new windshield and rubber seal, and a brand new Virginia state inspection sticker. AC was just serviced. The car has been in the Hampton Roads area its entire life. The original owner was 50 when he purchased it and 80 when I bought it from him. He told me his wife basically just drove it to church (really). The car was repainted the origonal color about 10 years ago. The US stopped importing the 280E in 1981 due to the diesel take over.I believe considering the year, and the options this car has, it may be the only one like it in the country. The reserve price is very reasonable. Drive it home. Happy bidding! VINWDB1230331A217581
