This 1974 Mercedes 450SL Roadster time capsule was recently brought out of long term indoor storage. The car was seemingly frozen in time 25 years ago and is sold today in the exact same condition it was found. An interesting restoration candidate or around town cruiser, this 450SL is overall mechanically sound but will need some work to bring it to the next level.
The interior of the vehicle is in superb condition for its age with no tears or other major flaws in the leather. Doors gaps are even and both passenger and driver doors open and close with ease. Passenger window switch is inoperable. Circa 1985 car phone comes free of charge. Rumors of speed dial #1 dialing Don Johnson directly are unconfirmed.
The exterior of the vehicle is fair. The paint is faded on the hood and trunk and rust bubbling can be seen around the headlights and drivers side rear rocker panel. However, where the clear coat is still intact, the paint shines well and overall the vehicle presents well.
Mechanically, the vehicle starts, runs and stop as it should but will need to be looked over by a mechanic prior to any material road use. Aside from a rocker panel blemish, most likely from an incorrectly placed floor jack, the vehicle is free of structural rust and overall very dry. The trunk is in good condition, side sills are solid and no frame issues were found.
We are auctioning this vehicle off with no reserve. Sold as is, where is. All sales are final. This Mercedes 450SL Roadster starts without drama and offers a rare opportunity to bid on a classic Mercedes Convertible with no reserve! Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to discuss the vehicle in more detail. Hard top can be sourced for additional fee. Good luck!
