1984 Mercedes 300D WVO Greasecar
1984 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description
I bought this car 6 years and 64,000 miles ago because it was a super solid Texas car, just had faded paint and cracked dash. Since then I have put over $12,000 into rebuilding front and rear suspension (Springs, shocks, bushings, ball joints, tie rods etc- always best quality parts available), New brakes in past 3 months (new rear rotors and calipers/pads), front turned rotors and new ceramic pads), New Monark glow plugs and injectors, New timing chain, belts/ hoses, rebuilt and retrofitted air conditioning, new cruise control, replaced dash pad with a good used one and had car professionally repainted 3 years ago (see condition above), some new door and window seals- and added a greasecar.com WVO kit with auto pilot. Tires are like new matching Michelins on refinished, original Bundt wheels. Much more has been done, will include all my records and receipts from when I bought it in 2010 to present. Also have owners manuals, carfax and high mileage award from Mercedes that will be included.
Everything works on the car as it should- AC, all power windows, power moonroof, power antenna, Cruise, automatic climate control (replaced that too), very nice aftermarket stereo with hands free bluetooth connection to your phone (microphone on dash) USB and aux port, cd etc. runs out very strong, transmission shifts nice and firm and it rides and handles beautifully! Ready to drive anywhere.
See greasecar.com for detail on the kit if you are unfamiliar- I also added a 30 plate flat plate heat exchanger to the set up. What all this does is allow you to run on either diesel or straight WVO (waste vegetable oil). I fill the tank in the trunk with clean WVO that I have centrifuged, dewatered and filtered. When I start the car it is always on diesel until the ENGINE (not oil) gets to 150 degrees, then is automatically switched to run on straight WVO (unless I override). the tank, fuel lines and filter are all heated and with the FPHE temps of the oil get to 180 in the summer and 140 to 160 in winter depending on outside temp and how long you drive. 30 seconds before you shut the car off (you can be driving) you push a button to flush the fuel lines and refill with diesel for the next cold start. The kit has always worked flawlessly and has been a real fuel, money and planet saver. If you are not watching the display on the autopilot the only way you would know you switched to WVO is engine gets a bit quieter and your exhaust begins to smell like french fries- seriously. I get 25 to 27 MPG on either diesel or WVO. on long trips I have gotten over 200 mpg of diesel (divide miles by # of gallons diesel burned, I will burn a lot of veg. oil but I don't pay for that!) I have always made sure I settled and dewatered my oil before I run it through my dieselcraft centrifuge and then pump it through a water blocking filter. If you don not want to worry about fuel type simply unplug autopilot and it will run on just diesel and act just like a normal benz.
I am meticulous with my vehicles and have done most of the work myself with the best parts I could get. I hired the timing chain and some of suspension done at a top quality import shop, and had the paint done at a top notch shop also. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere, on diesel or veggie oil- and I will include enough clean, filtered veggie for you to drive a long way! If winning bidder is interested in my centrifuge and other filtering equipment we can talk about buying that also.
If you are familiar with these cars you know the W123 body with the 617 engine is known as possibly the the most dependable and rugged car ever built. They are also known as one of the best cars to convert to vegetable oil. With all the recent maintenance and super solid body and chassis (it never left me stranded) this example should be ready for the next 200,000 miles.
Car is listed locally, I reserve right to end auction early if it sells locally.
