The biggest maintenance expense and the reason the original owner traded in the car was fixing the non working heat and AC. The entire dash was removed, all the vacuum bellows that operate the system were replace with OEM Mercedes parts, the push button controller was replaced with a professionally rebuilt one from a company in Florida, Programa, that specializes in this sort of thing. The fan speed switch was replaced, a new Bosch blower fan installed, the AC system recharged and it now works flawlessly. The AC blows cold and the heat is hot.
Everything else works as it should to include the odometer, windows, sunroof, power mirror, all gauges, no dash warning lights are on, etc...
The car has had regular oil changes every 5000 miles, the transmission fluid changed, all new brakes front and rear, new plugs, Bosch wires, Bosch cap and Bosch rotor, new alternator, new snow tires last winter, regular alignments, new steering stabilizer and front steering/suspension components. The cooling system has had the radiator, hoses, water pump and coolant overflow tank replaced and all the coolant flushed and the rear exhaust was replaced this Spring.
The 4 side and 1 rear window have been tinted and are in the legal limits for Massachusetts. I have added Euro headlights that are much more efficient than the factory lights.
The car is 24 years years old and not without a few flaws. It has some chips in the paint, the radio antenna does not go down, it needs a speaker grill on the passenger's door, only one of the rear speakers works and there is a small leak in the Power Steering. A new pump and high pressure line will be included in the sale. I have just been topping off the reservoir whenever it gets low. I would not hesitate to drive across the country in it tomorrow. I drove 2800 miles to Alabama and back without a single hiccup. The car has beenextremely reliable.
So, why am I selling it? I own 4 cars and have purchased a 1994 E320 as a new daily driver and am looking to sell the 190 and a 300SD Mercedes Turbo Diesel I own to buy a BMW E30, otherwise I'd be keeping the car and continue to drive her to work and back every day.
