Up for auction is my 1984 Mercedes 380SL which I consider to be in above average condition. Vehicle originally came from a dealer in California and was purchased for my retirement. When purchased, he vehicle had approximately 104k miles and only 2,500 miles have been put on in the last 7 years. I have always had the vehicle registered, nsured, early inspected both in New York and Virginia along with yearly oil changes. The A/C was recharged and dye tested last May and still blows cold. Minor seepage was found in October at the compressor while the inspection was being performed. No other mechanical issued were found during the inspection to the suspension, rakes, ights, orn, ires, xhaust, r steering gear. There were no fluid leaks or seepage found to the under carriage.
Vehicle does have the dual timing chain.
The photos will speak for the vehicles overall condition so look closely and I personally have no knowledge of any defects.
The convertible top has two 8 inch tears which could be patched by a quality upholsterer or a German replacement top sells for anywhere from $350 to over $500. The vehicle has the original stereo which does not work but when it did the antenna motor worked fine. The interior leather seats and trim shows minimal wear with no tears splits or stains. Both front and rear bumper chrome bars have minor parking lot type dents and the bumper rubber ends are in good condition. There are two very minor 1/2 inch dash cracks located at the windshield defroster vents. Photos may not show these. The right door does not lock and I’m not sure if it requires lubrication or if a rod is disconnected. There are no cracks to the front w/s or rear glass and rear defroster did work.
The hard top is in excellent condition with all chrome trim and headliner. Original owners paperwork is also available.
Remember, his vehicle is 32 years old without a frame up restoration.
I tried to show the damaged chrome bumpers, inor seam rust to the right rear lower valance and tears on the soft top. A small hairline crack exists to the wood grain below the stereo. All Michelin tires measure out at 9/32 remaining tread. All fluid levels were rechecked 02/18/2016 by Tread Quarters in Virginia Beach. Hood insulator is missing. Vehicle was never driven in the snow and has seldom seen rain. There is a bracket/bar that attaches to the hardtop to assist in removal of the hardtop which I’ve never used.
A very low reserve has been placed and please email me with any questions or if you require additional photos. Vehicle is located in Virginia Beach and I reserve the right to end this auction early. $500 Pal Pal payment is expected at the end of the auction and balance due with certified funds within 7 business days. I will assist in meeting a shipper and the vehicle can be driven onto any type of transport.
DON’T BID unless you intend on purchasing. I’ve already had one poor experience with an ebayer. Please do not ask what the reserve is but feel free to email me your offer.
Thanks for viewing and good luck to the bidders.
