1951 Mercury 2 Door Custom Description

This Vintage Mercury 2 DR coupe had a complete frame off restoration completed in 2012. It has been driven 1900 miles since restoration. It rides, uns, nd drives like a suped up Cadillac. The car was 99.9% rust free. It had been stored in a heated basement from 1973 to 1999 by the previous owner.Never wrecked or damaged, t has all original body panels, loor and trunk pans, nd rocker panels.The car features a fresh 350 Chevrolet engine with a 700r4 automatic transmission with auto lock torque converter.Vintage heat and air system, lectric fan, lectric wipers, ustom console with stereo system. Custom chrome steering column with tilt, ustom steering wheel, ll new gauges with tach in console.Custom swivel bucket seats with custom burgundy and white interior complimented with new Burgandy carpet, nd custom headliner.All original stainless trim in great condition with frenched headlights and snakeye headlamps.Two New 1953 Corvette grills custom made to fill the grille area.All exterior chrome including bumpers, oor handles, aillight bezels, indshield wiper bezels professionally rechromed.All mechanical parts have been disassembled and new bearings, ushings, nd seals replaced to new car standards.New shocks all around, resh air intake to engine.Car also had power steering, ower disc brakes in front with new drums in rear.Car has a new 21 circuit wiring harness, lectric fuel pump, ll new fuel and brake lines, uel tank cleaned and resealed with new sending unit installed.The frame off restoration included cleaning the frame, nd painting with POR15 antirust epoxy.Floor pans and trunk pan were cleaned and painted inside and out with POR15.The body was disassembled and stripped by hand to bare metal to remove the original black laquer and primer. Little body work was done since the body was in great shape.The body was cleaned, reated and primed with epoxy followed with4 coats of urethane primer, locked, anded and painted with 5 coats of DuPont hot hues razzlin Red metallic paint followed by 5 coats of clear urethane.The body was carefully reassembled with all new body bushings and bolts, ew windows were installed with new rubber throughout.Rear original window was reinstalled with new rubber, firewall and floor pans were insulated then covered with new carpet and new stainless rocker step plates.Custom Fiberglass Bubble Skirts were installed along with new 7X17" Rocket Booster Wheels and high performance, ow profile tires.This car is ready to drive anywhere. Has been in numerous shows and won many best of show awards. It was featured in IVY Magazine photo shoot issue #12, eptember2012.
