1947 mercury convertible
1947 Mercury Other Description
Project 1947 Mercury Convertible.
This is a convertible body that has been spliced to a sound sedan floor and frame. The splice will need finish welding. The frame will need an additional cross member that came with the convertible vehicles. The convertible windshield frame and firewall is pictured. It will need body work and installation. The windshield frame on the car is a sedan chop. The hood on the car is for a ford so you will need to find a Mercury hood which is longer. There are three sedan doors which can be cut up to use for splicing the bottom of the rust out on the bottom of the convertible doors (one sedan door is pictured). The best method would be to find a sedan with all the needed parts for all the dash and door handles, Etc. The convertible top frame has two bows, one marked front and one marked rear, I don't know if there is supposed to be a middle but there are only the two (see photos). The rear convertible section at the rear of the trunk would need to be installed (about picture 12).
There are more parts not pictured like seat frames, however, I don't know if they are the right frames for a convertible. All three VIN numbers match, frame, engine and transmission. The engine is the original dark blue paint and appears to have never been rebuilt.
I purchased this from a friend several years ago. He had it for 20 years and the person he got it from had it for about 20 years also. It has not been registered in that time. The only paperwork will be on a bill of sale.
The vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
