1969 Mercury Cougar Murdered Eliminator
1969 Mercury Cougar Blacked Out Description
Up for your consideration is a laser straight 1969 Mercury Cougar base model that has been transformed into a black Eliminator recreation. This Cougar still has its original drivetrain from its 351 Windsor engine to the FM 3 speed transmission and rear end.Power steering, cruise control. Manual drum brakes.
The body of this Cougar has been ground down to bare metal. DP-90ed and several coats of high build primer was applied. Block sanded and looked at and then more high build primer to get car very straight. Then 4 coats of DUPONT'S Ultra Jet Black was applied. The darkest of dark blacks. Not cheap either. Then numerous coats of clearcoat.Color sanded with 800 grit sandpaper. Then 1200,1500,2000.All work was done professionally at my local Macco . Yeah yeah i've heard the stories of Macco paint jobs. Whenever a car I send to Macco, I buy anyone who works on car lunch daily while car is being work on. For however long car is there. There's a big difference in finished product when you do!!!!The Cougar was then compound buffed after the color sanding then polished and then micro polished. The Eliminator decal kit was then applied correctly.
The engine has had thousands of dollars spent. From a rebuilt 4bbl Weber carburetor to a new power steering unit. Edelbrock Performer intake manifold 4bbl. Recent timing chain. NewFuel pump. New transmission cooler. Radiator was hot tanked and pressure tested. Red hose replacement from heater core so someone has replaced heater core at one time. A new gas tank and sending unit also has been replaced. New rear end fluid too.A updated rear Turn Signal Brain was bought from Ken's Cougars. Interior lights work. Wipers work. Heater motor has been intermittant. New windshield also.
Rear Eliminator Wing/Spoiler, Hood Scoop, Front Chin Spoiler and Eliminator Decal Kit were all purchased from Ken's Cougars. His parts and ability to be RIGHT parts that fit the car helped a lot.
Rare Factory Correct Rally Rims for 69/70 Cougars only are on this Black Cat. Practically brand new Goodyear Eagle ST's which still have the blue Factory Paint in the grooves and the knobs on the side to make these tires almost new and stored for years correctly in a heated garage. No cracks in tires. This Cougar even has a full size rare rim spare with a new Eagle ST on it.New year correct center caps with new chrome trim rings. Tires are 215/70/14's.
A factory trunk mat and side supports were purchased along with stock tail light cardboard protectors. A full size factory spare tire with another vintage Eagle ST, factory jack and lug wrench finish up the trunk compartment. New trunk weatherstriping is about to be installed.I was going to install the remote exhaust cut outs but I will include with sale. These cutouts are remote control by key fob and manual toggle switch which can be located inside center console or anywhere. You mount these cutouts roughly under the front seats onto the exhaust pipes way before the mufflers. So you can either have regular exhaust out back or hit the fob and the exhaust dumps open and it’s dragster straight pipes loud with each rev of the gas pedal. Very fun feature once installed at any exhaust shop or garage.
The car is being sold locally as well and I reserve the right to end auction if a fair price is met. It is being sold in AS IS condition with no expressed warranty. If you have any questions or concerns with the car please email me or call and we can go over what's what with this car.
