1963 MERCURY S55 BREEZEWAY 390 4V AUTO RESTORED
1963 Mercury Monterey S55 Description
The S-55 was introduced in 1962 to compete with Ford's Galaxie 500/XL. At this time Mercury added a full size performance luxury vehicle to its "S" or special line. The basic Monterey series featured two and four door sedans and hardtops. The sporty S-55, such as this, were decked out with bucket seats and console interior.
This Mercury is a fine example in beautiful Carnival Red exterior with white interior. It is equipped with a Z code 390 4V V8 engine and automatic transmission. This car was restored in 2000 and driven very sparingly since. Being stored in a climate controlled garage, it still shows extremely well and is in excellent condition. We have owned the car since 2011. The body is rust free and paint is in excellent condition. All chrome moldings were refinished at an expense of $3000 and look beautiful. The interior has been refinished in the original white upholstery and is in near perfect condition. The rear window is powered and functions as it should.
This car runs and drives very nice. The 390 V8 is believed to be the original engine to the car. The transmission shifts smoothly. New dual exhaust was installed at the time of restoration. The tires are in good condition and have lots of tread on them.
