Sold new to Elmer Reitmeier on 03/14/1964 at Empire Lincoln Mercury in Spokane, WA. Registrations from 1964-1999 on file. The 1964 Mercury Monterey was introduced in 1961 based on a Ford body that was similar to that of the Thunderbird but distinct enough that no one outside of the plant making the car could tell it shared the Ford design, which was a positive for Mercury. Overall the car shrunk in size compared to previous model year Mercury's as the general public was looking for smaller vehicles. 1963 came around and the car had undergone a few more changes that prominently featured a new roofline and a widely popular reverse slant window with a power option to move it up or down. This example, being 1964, features a slightly different front end but was mostly a carryover year from 1963.Part of a collection of 20 cars located and purchased to go in a museum honoring the founder of a family business who owned and drove these same cars. Recent circumstances changed the completion of the museum and all twenty automobiles were commissioned to be sold. All 20 under $30k, all 50's-60's American 4-door sedans, all in good working order and very good condition. The total expense in locating and purchasing, and reconditioning these Classics exceeded $600,000. Today they are all being offered for exceptional values. For more information on this spectacular 1964 Mercury Monterey, contact Mr. Bruski 877-855-1030
