1949 Mercury 1949 MERCURY Description

Up for for Bid is a 1949 Mercury Custom "Lead Sled"
This car has all of classic custom mods combined with new safety and comfort features.
The all Steel body was chopped back in the 1950's or 60's and is perfect! The headlights have been beautifully Frenched, and the Taillights have
been replaced with 59 Caddy lights that have been tunneled in. The body was stripped to bare metal and 1953 Mercury front fender flares were melded
into the front fenders. The front end has been nosed and smoothed. The hood has been louvered, and the rest of the body has been smoothed lowered
and channeled. The paint is a modern urethane paint that has been clear coated. The Black paint would make the perfect canvass for a Flame job if desired.

Mechanically the car has a New Edelbrock chevy 350 crate motor with only 1 mile on it since installed. The engine has a polished intake, aluminum heads,
stainless headers, Flowmaster hush power mufflers, and custom exhaust. MSD ignition, Painless wiring harness. Brand New 700R4 Transmission.10 bolt
GM 3:31 POSI Rear. Hotchkiss 2" lowering springs all around, and a Hotchkiss tubular rear suspension. GM 4 wheel disc brake conversion all around.
The body is channeled over a 78-82 GM G body frame with all new polyurethane bushings. The car drives very well.

All of the chrome has been re-chromed and a custom grill made up of 53 chevy teeth and 53 Mercury Bullets has been fitted to the front.Custom made
directional signals have been fitted to the bullets. The front bumper has been replaced by a 1951 Mercury bumper that has been re-chromed, the rear bumper
has had reverse bulbs installed into it. The windshield and rear window are original.

The interior has had all of the gauges and radio upgraded to 12 volts and a period correct custom third brake light has been installed on the rear dash.
A Vintage Air AC system has been installed, but needs to be charged. The interior needs to be completed but I have the Original seat frames plus a set of
1964 Thunderbird seats, front and back. A very High end Banjo steering wheel has been installed. I have most if not all of the parts to complete the interior,
chrome parts, vent windows, interior window frames, etc plus other cool accessories. All of the hard work has been done. Well over 60k invested.
