1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser TurnPike Cruiser Description

UNRESTORED 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser 2-Dr. Hardtop. Original Estate Car. This is a 62 year old car and is expected to have flaws and to the best of my knowledge are described here. Running and Drivable although the Brakes need to be Bled, they will stop but not safe to drive on the highway. Purchased 3 years ago from an estate sale, the previous owner drove the car just as you see it to local car shows every summer. His widow said the car was once used in a movie but could not remember the name of the movie. The mileage was reported as original although I cannot verify and Florida will show old cars as Mileage Exempt. Has a 368, 290 Hp V8, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Seat-O-Matic Power Seat, Never Tried it may or may not work, Power Antenna, Never Tried, AM Radio, does not come on, Power Windows, all Working, Power Breeze Way Rear Window, Working. Chassis Lubrication System, not sure if working, Factory cable driven Tachometer working, Factory Trip odometer Clock, not working may be a fuse? Original Seats are very usable and may reflect a low mileage? Notice the Original headliner and Chrome Strips, nice. All interior courtesy lamps work, trunk lamp works. Headlights, Tail Lights and signal lights work, Horn is loud and Clear. Carpets look to be newer. One cracked passenger side door glass but there is a new replacement in a box in the trunk to go with the car. The body is solid. Paint is old and faded, lots of nicks and chips, scratches and some very amateur repaint in places. There are some minor door dings, and a small area in the left rocker panel that shows an old repair near the front fender. Should be an easy fix. Chrome is lightly pitted from age. Needs bumpers, grill, door handles, headlight bezels, side mirror and exterior door handles, the two over windshield air inlet housings re-chromed. Nice Stainless Trim. Both Gold Anodized Side Panels are very nice. Both Rear Quarter Stainless panels unique to the Turnpike Cruiser are Very nice. As shown in the photos the other chrome looks nice as it is. Car starts easily, has a 4 barrel carter Carb, original air cleaner, original glass bottle windshield washer etc. I never tried the wipers, Heater or Defroster. NOTHING is missing! The ignition key also locks both doors. The hood latch is sticky and should be lubricated. The trunk has no rust out and the floors are solid. Keep in mind this car is NOT restored and will need a full restoration for show. Very Rare 2 dr. hardtop with clear Florida Title in my name. SOLD AS IS. NO WARRANTY of any Kind Expressed or Implied. The Description is to the best of my knowledge and is not intended to be any kind of guarantee or warranty. I have NEVER licensed or driven this car. It is garage kept and only occasionally started and pulled in and out of the garage to keep everything in working order. Before driving the car should be thoroughly safety checked and fluids flushed and replaced. Buyer is responsible to arrange shipping and transportation. I will help load, car can be driven onto your transport but cannot be driven home in its current condition. UNRESTORED, NOT a SHOW CAR! Please ask any questions days prior to the end of the auction. I work 7 days weekly and may not see late questions. It is advised to look at the car in person or have someone view for you by appointment. I am open to a reasonable offer, no trades. I do reserve the right to end the auction early, it is for sale locally also.
