I am selling my 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7. This car is in amazing restored condition and will not disappoint. I have all the ORIGINAL TRIM TAGS, ENGINE TAGS, TRANSMISSION TAG, AND REAR END
DRIVETRAIN:
The car has the original matching number 351 Windsor engine still in the vehicle. It was removed and completely rebuild .30 over with everything inside replaced. It also has a mild cam and an updated edlebrock carb. It has a 5-way valve job with the 2 valve heads. They are 202 valves. It is backed by a build T5 5 speed transmission with a light weight flywheel and 5 puck clutch. The rear axle is the original ford 9 inch axle but the internals have been changed to a Limited slip 3.73 gears. The suspension has been completely rebuilt and updated. Also has a complete front disc brake kit. This drivetrain combination offers awesome long term drivability and a ton of low and mid range power when want it. Car has POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. This car is a blast to drive whether it be 15 minutes down the road or a 2 hour drive down the highway at 70 mph.
EXTERIOR
This car has ALL ORIGINAL SHEET METAL. It does have one 8 inch patch in the passenger side rear quarter panel behind the tire. This car is from California originally and it definitely shows. ALL ORGINIAL AND SOLID FLOOR PANS, DOORS, HOOD FENDER ETC. The car is finished in the FORD color Acapulco Blue, All the lights work including sequential turn signals and flip up headlights!!! Vehicle has all the trim and the class is in great shape. All windows roll up and down. The rims are aftermarket wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial TA. The rims are staggered giving it a sporty but classy look. Also handles amazing. Vehicle has the Eliminator spoiler, functional hood scoop, and lower lip spoiler. The only chrome left on the car is the front and rear bumpers. The other trim has been sanded and painted black to give the car a hot rod type look. This car gets looks every where it goes.
INTERIOR
The car has the black leather interior with front buckets and a rear bench. Also has the center console. ALL OF THE GUAGES WORK IN THE DASH. However the clock in the passenger side dash does not currently operate. Dash does not have any cracks or blemishes. The driver seat does have a small tear in the upper bolster but can be repaired. It might be done before sale. The door panels are in good shape and all handles work. However the passenger side door is missing the pull handle. The radio is a nostalgic looking radio but has a digital display and updated internals. Radio works great. All the heater controls work also. Some of the switches on tip of the dash do not operate. Wipers work great too.
