1960 MG MGA Description
1960 MG-A Roadster 1600 Ext. Color: Red Int. Color: White/Red Mileage: 119,230 mi Engine: 1600cc I-4 Transmission: 4-speed manual Drive: RWD Owners: Unknown Offered for sale is this classic 1960 MG-A Roadster 1600 finished in sports car Red over a white/red interior. This particular MGA was bought out of Barn in St. Michaels, MD. It was formerly owned and maintained by MGA Mechanic Bill Kitts (owner of British Sports Car Center of Houston TX - formerly St Michaels). Fires right up, runs and drives well. The body is straight with minimal corrosion (mostly present in the engine bay). This gorgeous piece of automotive history is a wonderful summer cruiser or weekend car – just hop in and transport yourself back to the 60’s; driving gloves and scarf not included! EXTERIOR: 7/10 – The swooping exterior lines of this MGA Roadster are a true throwback to an era of vehicle design where the principal goal was style. This MGA sports an older red respray which is in good to fair condition overall. Several nicks and scratches are present, as well as a small bubbling section on the hood (all pictured in the photo album). The chrome work is also in good condition with minimal pitting. The front grill has been swapped for a later MGA MkII unit. The factory wire wheels have been refinished in black with newer rubber sit nicely in the arching fenders and contrast nicely with the red paintwork. Newly installed front disc brakes are finished in gold and slow the MGA down capably. The Union Jack on the driver’s side fender is magnetic and removable, but sure does look good there! A top and side windows are included with the sale. One taillight lens is missing on the passenger side – we can source a replacement if needed. INTERIOR: 7.5/10 – The MGA features a clean and simple dash, with Jaeger-LeCoultre gauges and trimmed in wood – it is as much a work of art as is the exterior. – The white vinyl seats are piped with red trim and have recently been re-dyed. The wood trim around the body tub is in good condition overall, some pieces have been painted white to go with the interior theme. The carpeting and door cards are finished in red vinyl. The beautiful analog gauges, produced by high-end watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre, are all functional and contrast nicely with the white dash panel. DRIVETRAIN: 8/10 – The 1600cc inline-4 in this MGA Roadster runs very well, especially considering it’s age. The carbs were rebuilt and tuned this year. The 78-hp motor fires right up with little effort and no smoking. Idles very well with no overheating. Revs smoothly through the powerband and the transmission shifts smoothly. Really fun little car to drive, ready just in time for summer! _____________ For more information or to schedule a test drive, please call us at 240-224-7071 or email at info@performanceautogallery.com *NOTE: All sales are subject to $300 MVA dealer processing fee and tax, title and registration fees.
