**I will be adding more pictures within the next few days.**
I purchased the MG from the long time owner last year. He was a true MG enthusiast and prided himself on making sure that the MG was in perfect mechanical condition. It has a freshly rebuilt drive train. Always used on the nicest days only, the MG is a fantastic survivor example of the the first year production of the Midget. The MG is truly turn-key and is ready to be driven and enjoyed this summer. It is one of the best running and driving MG's I have had the pleasure to drive. The prior owner always wanted to drive the MG up 'Pikes Peak" and it was on his bucket list. Prior to my purchase, he fulfilled his dream to and was able to make the once in a life time trip up the mountain. This is a true testament to the mechanical condition of the MG.
Mechanically the MG is in excellent mechanical condition. It starts easily with the pull of the choke. As noted, the MG is a turn-key example. I was provided a detailed summary of all of the work that has been performed on the MG from the previous owner. The MG runs strong and is ultra reliable. It is still running the original style generator. The transmission shifts nicely and the MG is truly a pleasure to drive. The suspension is tight with no strange noises, clunks or bad vibrations. All of the electrical components work as they should including all lights, blinkers etc...Heat works fine including the heater blower.
I was told that there is no more than 5,000 miles on the following work:
Engine: It was disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with the following new parts:
Oil pump
Cam shaft
Lifters
Rod bearings
Main bearings
All seals and gaskets
Water pump
Timing chain and sprockets
Piston rings
All new tune up components
SU carbs completely rebuilt.
Front End:
New coils springs
New tie rod ends
Dampers drained and refilled
Brake cylinders rebuilt
Brake hoses replaced
Brake shoes replaced
Steering gear drained and refilled.
Rear Axle:
Differential replaced with a 3:9 unit with new pinion seal and gasket.
Hub seals, o rings & gaskets replaced.
Brake shoes replaced with rebuilt wheel cylinders.
New emergency brake cable.
Rear dampers drained and refilled.
Drive Shaft:
Replaced U joints
New clutch disc and pressure plate
New slave cylinder
Electrical:
New fuel pump.
New dashboard switches.
Replaced starter motor and generator brushes.
New sending unit for gas tank.
Body: The exterior looks clean and always gets compliments when I drive it. It has been preserved as opposed to being restored. There is evidence of old repairs on the body that includes bondo on the body. The underside is solid with no evidence of rust. . Both bumpers are in good condition as well as the grill. There are the normal dings, scratches, and multiple body imperfections that you would expect from a 55 year old survivor example. The body is far from perfect as shown in the pictures, but still presents very nicely.
The interior is in excellent condition as shown in the pictures. The correct seats and door panels are in very nice condition with no tears or rips. Carpet is in good condition as well showing very little wear. The dash was recovered at some point and looks very nice as shown in the pictures. It is fitted with seat belts. The MG also has the optional rear seat cushion which is somewhat unique from my experience.
The MG comes with a nice convertible top that fits nicely. Also included are the original side curtains that were restored in the past. They are in nice condition. Lastly, there is a full tonneau cover and tonneau bar that is also included in the sale.
ONCE AGAIN....LOW RESERVE AUCTION!
