1967 MG Midget Convertible
1967 MG Midget Description
Great example of a classic British roadster! Even though she's 50 years old, she's a runner and fun to drive! And being a '67, you get all the chrome work, no black rubber bumpers, and no smog restrictions. I've owned it since 2009. My intention was to fix it up into a restored and reliable daily driver, but life happened, so now I want to pass it on to someone who will keep her going. She sat for the better part of 3 years until recently. I drained the old gas, put in a new battery and she started right up. I've been driving her once a week or two since to keep her going. She's a champ!

The Good:*New brakes on all four corners. Parts from Moss Motors and installed by a professional mechanic. I have receipts.- Front: disc brakes. Installed new discs, new calipers, new shoes and new hoses.- Rear: drum brakes. Installed new drums, new shoes, new cables/hoses including springs and all the interior bits and pieces.*New top, never installed. I have all the necessary car parts, just need someone to put it together.*New car cover, never opened, still in the plastic bag.*New throttle cable and choke cable.*New battery.*Rubber on tires is good. See pictures.*Desirable twin SU carburetors.*Interior is good. Minimal to zero attention needed to start driving and enjoying. See pictures.*I have had it on a lift and there is no major rust under the car that I could see. The car has been garaged ever since I owned it and the owner before me as well.*Two owners before me rebuilt the engine. Used correct period paint as far as I can tell.*Previous owner put on new exhaust system, including headers and a cherry bomb. Sounds freaking awesome! See pictures.*Electric fuel pump.*I have a tonneau cover from the previous owner. He wasn't sure it was for this car and I've never tried to put it on. I'm happy to include it with the car.*It has the original jack.*Painted wire wheels, traditional knock-offs, they could use some attention. See pictures. No spare.
The Bad:*As stated, the engine was rebuilt by a previous owner and runs strong. However, the true mileage for either the car since 1967 or since the rebuild is unknown. The odometer currently reads: 32,000+. It's only a five digit odometer.*Small oil leak - sheared off bolt to timing cover. Very small, but it exists.*There is/was a small leak on the differential. I can't tell if it's still there, but thought I'd put it in for full disclosure.*The body is solid, but the paint has seen better days. Cracks, chips, fading, etc. See pictures.*A few small areas of surface rust on the paint. See pictures.*Head lights, tail lights and front marker lights all work. The brake lights do not work. Windshield wipers work, but they are slow. Blinkers do not work. No horn.*There must've been some work done to the front, passenger side wing. It's been primered on top. See pictures.*First gear is a little hinkey. It works fine, but you can feel it probably needs attention. All other gears are perfect.*Gauges work to varying degrees. Speedo and tac are fine. Fuel gauge flutters as car speeds up, but settles down. Other gauge I cannot tell.*Choke does not work, but I do have a new cable for that. She still starts like a champ without the use of the choke.*Driver side chrome was removed by previous owner, but I have all the parts to reassemble if you desire.
My intention here is for full disclosure. There may have been things I forgot to add. There may be specific pictures you want to see. Call me and let me know. I'm happy to accommodate any requests. If you want to come see it, test drive it, let me know.
I also have a short video on YouTube of me starting and driving the car. I'm no Federico Fellini, but you can see the car in action.https://youtu.be/aStspr22exIIf this link does not work, search "1967 MG Midget - start and drive" exactly on YouTube and it should come up.
