1967 MGB GT rust free, excellent example. Ready to enjoy
1967 MG MGB leather Description
Please read description very fully for in depth information. Any further questions or photo requests, feel free to ask.
Very desirable steel dash, 1967 MGB GT in Tartan Red. This car gives off a patina of an original, well kept car however it has had rust repair and a repaint at some point in the distant past. It has held up very well, having been well cared for, always serviced and most importantly used and enjoyed.
Despite the "Special" badging, the wood shift knob and wood steering wheel, this does not appear to have been a US Spec car at the start. Paperwork shows it was delivered to France before making it's way here to the USA early in it's life.. As such the speedometer and temp gauge are in KPH and Celsius respectively. So the mileage listed at 48500 is in kilometers. (30,000 miles). It is not known if this is the true mileage, but it sure shows as a car with low mileage.
The paint is in very nice shape with little to no sign of a repaint, indicating a very professional and thorough job was done. There is no rust on the underside, sills or rockers. (See photos) Very slight corrosion peaking through the front fender to bulkhead seam (see photos).
The interior is in equally nice shape, with black leather seats/red piping. Carpets are excellent and the dash is also excellent. The trunk floor has been cleaned up of surface rust and hand painted by the owner. Included are the correct wire wheel spare, the correct factory jack and knock off hammer. The wire wheels have just been cleaned up and repainted, and the 185/70-14 tires are in good shape. All the electrically systems work as they should.
The engine runs very strong with no smoke and has excellent oil pressure (see photo). Twin SU Carbs were rebuilt within the last couple of years. We have many receipts showing all the service work that has been performed since the current owner bought it in 2010.
This GT is a joy to drive and is ready for any road trip you wish to take with it.
I operate an MG repair business and will occasionally help my customers sell their cars if I know the car and can stand behind it as a good one. This is a wonderful GT that needs nothing to fully enjoy, turn key ready.
Known issues;
1.The tachometer reads high at speed.
2.There is an occasional/brief squeal from the clutch/gearbox when maneuvering at slow speed as you release the clutch pedal. This has not been an issue worthy of investigation over the last 7 years of ownership.
3.The headliner is cracked and could stand to be replaced. (see photo)
The reserve is set to a very realistic price based on the great condition of this GT. It compares very favorably to other steel dash GT's on the market, as it is sorted and ready to enjoy.
