1974 MG MGB MrkIII Description

1974 MGB Roadster with 149,000 miles, but only 39,000 miles on the current engine and overdrive transmission, plus recent cosmetic upgrades. This car won “Peoples Choice” at last September Chicago British Car Festival.

Car purchased from original local owner by my father at approx 20,000 miles. He added about 60,000 and I have owned it for the last 22 years adding another 69,000. This car has always been properly stored for winters and always garaged in summers, avoiding rain when possible, but driven & enjoyed as much as possible.

In 2001 the original engine threw a rod at speed completely destroying the engine. A new/rebuilt engine was installed by John Twist at University Motors in 2002. At that same time a refurbished overdrive transmission was installed. This engine/overdrive trans has since been driven 39,000 miles with a new clutch installed 5,000 miles ago.

New professional Damask Red paint, fall of 2016.

New Autumn Leaf complete interior installed winter of ’16-’17.

Weber downdraft carburettor conversion.

Stainless Steel Exhaust.

Brand new rear wheel brake cylinders.

Hydraulic piston lifters installed for both bonnet (hood) and boot (trunk lid).

This car comes with a Removable Hard Top that has had a tiltable/removable sun roof added. It is a “Snugtop” brand hard top that has the rear-side windows similar to the factory version. The hard top has had a black repaint done so it looks great. Front & back seals are good, but the window seals could use replacing.

Includes: A) Half Tonneau shown in photos, B) Full Tonneau cover also shown, and, C) Full soft top with zip out rear window opening.

Original tire – jack kit in carpeted boot.

Pioneer AM/FM radio/CD Player.

Family additions and changes mean that it is now time for me to let someone else enjoy this fun car!
