You are bidding on my 1970 MGB. See the below** Video **for test drive and walk around. The 1970 split rear bumper was only manufactured that one year. The working overdrive makes it even rarer. I am the third owner of the car. The second owner since 1995 was the president of the Local MG car club. The car is in excellent mechanical condition. The paint shines well from an original color re-spray many years ago, but far from perfect as there are a few dings, rust spots and scratches.
The car presents its self very well. It has always been well maintained and never abused. With minimal maintenance it could continue to be used as a daily driver for years to come.
The car runs and drives very well. Oil pressure starts up at 75 and holds steady at 60lbs hot at idle. The transmission is tight and quiet in all gears. Suspension and steering is very solid with no rattles or wheel shimmy. The car has had some recent upgrades including rebuilt front end, 4 new Pirelli tires, brakes, new brake hydraulics and exhaust. I have many of the maintenance records going way back.
The body is in very good condition. You can tell the outer rockers have been poorly replaced at some point. Looks like there are some rust repairs to the fender bottoms and there are metal patches on the floor boards. I best can describe the car as genuine original condition for an east coast car. Yes there is some rust. Yes there is some bondo, but the body is in exceptionally structurally sound condition.
The interior is original and in very good usable condition. There are no significant rips or tears on seats or the upholstery. The carpet is worn in the usual spots. All electrical accessories and gauges are in good working condition, heater and fan as well are working.
I have tried to include as many pictures to depict the true condition of the car. Please e-mail if you have specific questions. Please keep in mind that the car is 48 years old and although the car is in drivable condition have realistic expectations for future repairs to keep it reliable.
This car is being offered in a no reserve auction with a very modest starting price. Please email and I will promptly assist you with any questions you may have. Please read the good and bad in the description above. I will make myself available for anyone requesting a physical inspection
