1964 MG MGB roadster Description
Listed is a 1964 MGB roadster in really decent condition. Car is 98% complete with only the interior covers from the panels and carpet missing. Vin # is 785 showing it to be one of the first 1000 MGB's produced. Engine starts and runs smoothly with no knocks or ticking. Carburetors are new SU HS4's, Exhaust is for the most part quiet and leak free. Brakes in the rear have new wheel cylinders and shoes. Brake and clutch master cylinder have been rebuilt. Front and rear brake hoses have been replaced. Front brake pads and calipers were checked and are in good working condition with plenty of pad.. Both clutch and brake systems were power bleed with Castrol LMA. Fuel Pump has been recently replaced. Transmission shifts smoothly but 2cd gear synchro is a bit touchy on downshift. Differential is quiet with no clunk or whine.
Body is in really decent condition for 50 something years old. No apparent rust in the rockers or arches. Floorboards have been replaced and were very nicely installed with no more fitting or work required. Some garage dings here and there but and overall very sold body. Hood is a replacement steel hood. Fenders are original and fit very well. No damage to the trunk lid. No luggage rack holes.
Gauges and electricals seem to be working, ie. turn signals, lights, wipers, blower motor, fuel gauge, oil pressure and temp gauge, speedometer and tach. All door glass and window regulators are in undamaged condition working properly with the glass having no chips and not unduly scratched. Door latches and interior handles are in proper working condition. We have ALL THE KEYs and they work.!!! including the door, glovebox, and trunk locks. Convertible top frame is included and is under the Top Boot. Canvas has been stripped from the frame. Seats are in really decent condition with the foam firm and the covers still intact.
New parts include front chrome grille, front bumper, front bumper over riders, SU HS4 carburetors, rear brake cylinders and shoes, brake hoses, hood, and two small boxes of various small parts that are pictured. Battery and voltage regulator are recent as well with the charging system in good order charging at 12.6 to 13.4 volts.
