Up for auction is a 1966 MGB Steel Dash car.
This is best described as a good daily driver that will give many years of trouble-free enjoyment. Please read the description carefully and feel free to ask any questions. Inspection is welcome and encouraged.
I purchased the car from an estate of a man that spent much time and money on it. Regrettably, he passed before he was able to thoroughly enjoy it. I purchased the car about 10 years after his passing so the car sat for about 10 years before I purchased it. Some of the work done by the previous owner:
1) Engine rebuild. The car has 80 lbs oil pressure cold and around 60 when warm.
2) New steering rack
3) New fuel tank
4) Re-upholstered interior.
5) New Top
6) Repaint
7) Attention to the radiator. (not sure if replaced or re-cored)
Cosmetically the paint is in good condition. There are some minor scratches and dents. There is no rust, though there is evidence of some rust repair done by the previous owner before the repaint. The trunk and floors are solid. The seats, door panels and carpets were replaced by the previous owner and in good condition. The top was replaced and though slightly tight, is presentable with no tears and quite usable. There is no top cover (boot). I have replaced the 14” wire wheels with 15” from an MGC as it makes the car more aesthetically appealing; the speedo reads slightly faster because of this. The tires are Vredestein’s with plenty of good tread left. There is no spare. The exhaust is good. The rear of the car lists slightly to the left (see rear picture). The car idles, runs, shifts and stops beautifully.
Some of the things that have been replaced with NEW components since my purchase:
1) Complete wiring harness
2) All electrical dash switches
3) Ignition Switch
4) Turn signal switch and flasher relay
5) Wood Steering Wheel
6) Fuel pump
7) Fuel sending unit
8) Rebuilt Tach
9) Voltage Regulator
10) Oil Pressure/Temperature Gauge
11) Horns
12) Clutch & Pressure Plate
13) Clutch Master and Slave Cyl
14) Rebuilt Carbs.
15)Throttle cable
16) Choke cable
17) Hood release cable
