1960 MG MGA Black/Red Description

Up for sale is a southern kept original 1960 MGA 1600 roadster. This car was bought in Georgia were it spent almost all of its life tracked back to 1976. From my research this a 1960 model vin#GHNL71326. The 1600 MGA was built between 1960 and 1961 and had a slightly larger engine, front disc brakes and different tail lamps from the original 1500 model. This car is very solid and complete for its age and would be a great candidate to restore or fix as a daily driver. The value of these cars will do nothing but increase as they have been out of production and they are fun to drive. This would be a great father and son project or a winter hobby to restore. The seats are Black with Red piping and have no cracks tears or splits anywhere. This car has the padded center console that also is in great condition. The windshield has no cracks or scrapes and the chrome is frame is gorgeous. All the gauges are complete and original as well as the dash knobs. The car comes with a couple of boxes of spare parts including lenses, wiper arms, hardware, new rear wheel cylinders, clutch slave, hose brake shoes and springs. The lower rocker panels were replaced at some point with home made steel and new rocker panels are included but they are not rusty they are just not correct but look ok. The only rust issue I see is in the trunk. The rubber molding was missing and it was parked with the trunk backed out and water collected in the trunk carpet and so now there are 2 holes inside the trunk towards the back of the car. You can buy the patch panel for 175 bucks from a catalog or make your own and save money. Underneath the rest of the car the battery boxes are solid. The inner fenders have no rust holes. The trunk is the worst place on the car that I can see. The 2 bad points are the 2 holes in the trunk and the home made outer rocker panels that are not original. The car has rare fiberglass period sun visor wind deflectors. I bought the car recently from an individual from Georgia who had cranked the car a few months before I purchased it. I have not attempted to crank the car at all and I do not have time to see if it will crank. The engine is not locked up and turns over fine. From my research I believe it to be the original unit the serial number is #18GAOH11841 which is a high compression engine. My family and I have sold MG and Triumph parts for the last 45 years in downtown Birmingham Alabama. The car is located at our warehouse and you can come look at it anytime from 10-5 on weekdays or ring me and I can meet serious buyers at 205-478-3164. The paint job looks ok in the pictures but they painted over the chrome hood grills and some other things so I would have it repainted. Please Serious bidders only, do not bid or buy if you do not intend on purchasing the car. The painted wire wheels look good and it will roll on a trailer. You will have to arrange pickup yourself. A ten percent PayPal deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of the listing. Payment is cash only I will accept a certified check but it must clear my bank first. The car will not be picked up until it clears, so if you want it fast please bring cash. Please ask any questions or come see the car for yourself. This vehicle does NOT have a title, cars manufactured prior to 1974 in the state of Alabama do not require a Title. You will be given a bill of sale after you pay. Please check with your states DMV and see if you can get a tag before bidding. I am starting this car with no Reserve so someone is going to get a great buy. In most MG enthusiast opinion the MGA was the best looking car MG ever made. The car must be paid for in Full within 5 days of end of listing and must be pickedup within 7 days of end of listing. Thanks David Matthews 205-478-3164 If you want pictures of a particular area of the car I can send them. Please no overseas bidders this listing is for US residents only. If you are near or want to look at the car in person please do not hesitate to call or and make an appointment. The car is located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.
