1951 MG T-Series Roadster Description
Same owner for 25 years, excellent condition 1951 MG TD Roadster treated to a frame-off restoration 25 years ago by previous owner, a new Cadillac dealer that spared no expense. Car has original 76.3 c.i., 54 horsepower engine with 2 original equipment SU H2 semi-downdraft carbs and with 4 speed manual gearbox. Manufactured in Great Britain for the U.S. market, this 2,015 pound 2 door roadster has a top speed of 80 mph. This beauty has a fuel capacity of 12.5 gallons and holds 4.5 quarts of oil. The front windshield folds down and is equipped with side vent wings and top-mounted windshield wipers. Among the many options are side curtains, a full tonneau cover, a full car cover, a removable luggage rack, and an upgraded Brooklands Banjo style steering wheel (roughly a $500 to $600 option). Burgundy paint was professionally applied at time of restoration and has held up beautifully. Leather Seats and other upholstery are in good condition and glass is clear and not cracked. During restoration, the burled walnut dash has professionally refinished. Equipped with what appear to be original working Jaeger gauges. Horn did work intermittently but appears to just be a loose wire. For a convenience and reliability upgrade, electronic ignition has been added. Tires are Pirelli thin whitewalls and still have good rubber. Owner will supply large box of extra parts including custom wire chrome headlamp covers.
