1959 MG A Mark I Description
If you've been looking for a top-of-the-line, collector-grade British sports car to show and drive, you can finally stop searching. This completely restored 1959 MGA Mark I is a true classic from across the pond, and it greets the present day in stunning form, looking very sharp both inside and out, and running smooth and powerful thanks to a supercharged 1489CC B-series straight 4 under the hood. That's right, this pretty little bugger is supercharged! It's the quintessential British sports car and a sure bet to turn heads wherever you take it.
Clad in a very appropriate and popular Midnight Navy Blue - after all the MG is about as British as afternoon tea and James Bond - this is a car that'll charm you right from the start. Its low-slung form has been featured in countless movies over the years, with some lucky driver behind the wheel who's climbed a rung or two on the status ladder just by virtue of having this sports car under his or her command. This beautiful iconic sports car is the result of countless man hours (the entire build took almost 4 years to complete) spent perfecting this beauty by the pros at JKL Enterprises in Canton, Texas. And the laser-straight bodywork and miles deep paint looks great, with nice even coloring and smooth texture wherever you look, and only the most minor of imperfections likely acquired in the scant 588 miles since it was built. And trust us, it takes a very keen eye to find much wrong in this finish. No aggressive corner carving or any other stresses from the road have knocked it off kilter - it's got nice tight lines and even gaps between body panels from front to back. Up front, the cascading grille and front bumper are looking clean with no pitting, as are the rear bumper and luggage rack, and all of its other exterior trim and fittings are in top form. As the MG hails from England, a land known for its inclement weather, it's only fitting that a black cloth convertible top sits waiting in the trunk to be snapped into position, as does as tonneau cover for quicker application, should your travels require protection from the elements.
The Saddle Tan leather interior was also fully restored back to its original configuration and just one look at it will make you want to go find a rally to take part in. As you pull the cable-operated latch to open the door and climb inside, you'll almost certainly be surprised by the amount of room for driver and passenger - despite the MG's modest size, a full-size adult won't feel the need to adopt the bent-knee, shoulders-raised posture required by so many of its counterparts. The low-backed buckets look great and are incredibly comfortable and if you look beyond the sporty wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel, you'll see a dash that's in outright impressive shape, with a slick gloss over its steel surface and an assortment of stock gauges that are crystal clear sitting in the instrument cluster. Just to the right you'll find the controls for the heater, and below it is the shifter for the quick-shifting 4-speed manual below. Out back, a full-size spare sits securely in the carpeted trunk.
A 1489cc engine sits in the compact engine compartment to power this lightweight British classic, but it has a friend riding shotgun. That's right, the aforementioned supercharger. Obviously, a peppy little British sports car wasn't enough for the owners of this beauty, so they told their builders to go full-blown 007. With its pair of SU carbs sitting on top, properly adjusted, the compact powerplant is in good form, starting right up and sounding very healthy as it teams with a 4-speed manual transmission. Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes provide fade-resistant stopping power, and rack-and-pinion steering mean this MGA can handle corners with ease. Mechanically and otherwise, this car is not just some trailer queen - it's very road-ready to provide you with miles of nostalgia-evoking adventure as soon as you get it home, and it rides on a set of 15" spoked wheels outfitted with performance radials.
Cars don't get much more iconic than this 1959 MGA Mark I, and quite frankly we've never seen one restored to such a high level. With only 588 miles on the fully documented build, this British roadster is going to be turning heads for years to come. Call today!
