1959 MG MGA Description
You are bidding (No Reserve) on one used 1959 MG model MGA convertibleautomobile.
I purchased this MGA in 2017 in Houston Texas from long time owner who was selling due to health issues. Thankfully, he kept it as a daily driver, never wanting to spend a ton of money to make it look showroom new...that's what I liked and wanted, and found this one and purchased it...as the body is so original and basically dent and rust free.
After about six months of ownership, I completely destroyed the motor due to overheating, turning it into a solid block of melted metal. I sidelined the car in a warehouse for a few months until such time as well know Houston MG mechanic (Skip Robbins MG Shop) could fit it into his one-man shop schedule...for extensive repairs to the dive-line.
The motor (I believe is an MGB block) has been completely rebuilt/machined with all new parts. The four-speednon-synchro first gear transmission, clutch/pressure plate, front/rear drum brakes (including addition of a power brake booster), rear end, suspension, etc, have all been rebuilt, modified and/or restored to a "daily driver" condition.
All gauges are in working order, as are lights, horn and turn signals. It comes with tonneau cover only. No frame for the cloth top, no side curtains (windows), no heater, no radio.
I have over 12 pages of hand written shop notes/invoices (some of which are shown here). All paperwork/manuals, magazines, etc will be conveyed to new owner. And yes, the car still drips oil...just like a brand new MG!I don't even want to think about how much money I have in this car, but at least I'm happy when I drive it anywhere...without fear of being stranded.
Car is held in a locked securedwarehouse in Brenham Texas (halfwaybetween Houston and Austin on HWY 290). Please come see and drive the car for yourself and/or send a third party for yourinspection. The car is registered in Texas as an antique automobile. I have a clear transferrableendorsed Texas title. Shipping to be arranged by purchaser.

Since the drivetrain rebuild, I have driven the car only 1200 miles total, including modest break-in speeds. It really is a nice driver. At local weekend shows, this MG attracts a lot of attention...for whatever reason. People seem to gravitate to "patina" type cars in lieu of the endless perfect "show" vehicles.
