1962 MGA 1600 MK2 ROADSTER. CHARIOT RED WITH BISCUIT TRIM. BEIGE TOP. 4-SPEED, WIRE WHEELS. COMPETITION-LOOK MESH GRILLE, RACING STRAPS. FOGLAMPS. ALLOY/ WOOD STEERING WHEEL. MATCHING NUMBERS. VERY PRETTY RESTORED CAR, DRIVING WELL.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very attractive MGA Mk2 Roadster, the most desirable model and also the last year the MGA was produced. This car was just purchased from a caring collector back East who acquired it in restored condition and used it sparingly only during the spring/summer driving season. The car presents nicely in it's red/tan livery with the addition of it's period-looking racey mesh grille, leather hood straps, and fog lamps.
This car was recently restored and is still holding up well. There are a few very small paint blisters on the passenger door and on the front shroud of the car but are visible only up close indoors. The bodywork and paintwork is very nice and glossy overall and was a quality job. Chrome fittings are a mixture of mostly new and some good used.
The car was completely retrimmed in quality vinyl with matching leather to the armbars. Carpets are finished in quality cut-pile beige. A new beige top has been fitted and a dress-up black trunk carpet kit.
It starts up easily on the key with a little bit of choke. On the road, the car performs well with very good oil pressure, no smoke, good brakes, clutch and steering, with n icely sprung suspension. The gearbox is also excellent but has some first gear noise from some wear, but is serviceable and useable. A new stainless exhaust system was fitted. The undercarriage appears original. The correct 1622cc engine and mechanicals are very clean and correctly painted, evidence of a rebuild in the past...Overall, this desirable late Mk2 Roadster is the best of the bunch and is a nice, comfortable, and reliable driving car with excellent cosmetics. As of late, these MG's offer very good value for their all around performance and are enjoying a surge in interest.
