Once again I am grudgingly offering this wonderful old car that I had every intention of restoring. I tried last year and the sale fell through.
I know this car oh...so well!! My best friend bought this car slightly used in 1960 and he and I drove this around all through high school and college in the Seattle – Tacoma area.
Sad to say I lost my friend. In 1967, Jim went off to Vietnam as an Army Helicopter pilot and was killed in action. Jim’s folks and brothers used the car around Tacoma for a while. But then it was stored. I was close to the family and in 1988, bought the car from Jim’s Dad. It had been stored for several years and in need of restoration. I planned to get it up and running but never had either the time or money to do it. I’ve hauled it around from Tacoma to Colorado Springs to Scottsdale and now Minnesota.
Would you believe - The last Washington registration in Jim’s name from 1967, s still attached to the steering column. I cannot take it off because he is still the pilot of the car!! It goes to the buyer in hopes that it stays with the car forever!
This MGA has a clear title and in fact is licensed here in MN.
The car is missing the following:Front bumper assembly, rilleand the rag top and frame. They were just too far gone and I did not want to ship them to Minnesota.
I am offering this car as is, plus about $1500 in new parts I ordered from Moss and Victoria British but never used. New parts include: wiring harness; rear bumper and over-riders and brackets; front and rear lighting assembly and rear plinths; complete rubber and grommet kit. Plus, ll old parts are here. I have the Moss Motors receipts for my purchases.
I even have Jim’s original shop manual, he copper knock off hammer, ack and engine crank!! I’m including a couple other shop manuals and restoration guide I purchased.
Please see the photos. I can send more and will discuss anything you want to know about this car. I’m really hoping a new owner will think of Jim and all of us Vietnam Veterans as you restore this beauty.
