1965 Nissan Other Description
This 1965 Nissan Patrol is a left-hand drive, three-door example withan indicated 75k kilometers (~47kmiles). Fewer than300060-series Patrols officially made it to the US during the 1960s, though they were more common in South America. This one remained with its original owner in Bogotá, Colombia until coming to the US in 2010. The truck retains anunrestored 4.0L inline-six, 3-speedmanual, and 4×4 system, butwas cosmetically refreshed with new paint and upholstery afterits importation. It is a nice driver condition truck, that drives wonderfully.
The truck presents well fora driver and looks at home off road, and a looks a little sharper in pictures than in person, but still presents very nicely. It was repainted by the prior owner, and the finishbearsassorted small cosmetic flawssuch aschipsand areas of overspray.Since buying the truck the front has been disassembled to repaint the fendersandinstallfreshseambeading.
Slab-sided panels appear free of damage repair, whileoccasionalwaviness can be spotted downthe sides. Nomeaningful rust has been found after the body was gone over in detail, and exterior corrosionappears limited to surfacediscoloration at panel edges and hinges. Body-colored steel wheels wear older, weather-checked BFGoodrich rubber, and aswingaway spareresides out back.
Both bumpers appear stock, the front with an integrated tow hook and hand-crank starter guideand the somewhatbent rear with a built-in step and pintle hooktow hitch.Minimal bright trim looks straight and shows well, including anewlyre-chromed grilletrim bar andfreshlypolished headlampbezels.
Thedoors includeremovabletop halves and glass looks serviceable in the flip-down windshield withbuilt-inoverheadwiper motors. A recentreproduction canvas soft top isingood overall condition with clear plastic windows, fitting tightly over a steel tube framework and including zip-open side and rear panels with some marking inside.
Recently-sourced gray vinylupholstery on the split front seat and folding parallelrear benchesis similar to their originalmaterial. Some interior sheet metal has been repainted, though dash chipping remains around the centrally-mounted maplight. Serviceable rubber mats protect solid, clean-looking footwells andcargo floor.
Minimal interior trim presents well, including the substantial passenger grab handle andoperable vent doors. Simple switchgear, Kanto Seiki instruments, and the factory split-spokedbanjo steering wheel all appear to be original, and all controls, lights and accessories are reportedlyfunctional. No seat belts or heater areequipped.
An underseat storage area includes an early-style factory tool box with several original tools including a grease gunand substantial ball-peen hammer, along witha handful of laterreplacements.
Horsepower for the Patrol’s seven-bearing, 4.0L P-series inline-six was increased to145 for the 1965 model year. This example runs very wellthanks to a newlyrebuilt carburetor drawing through fresh fuel lines and filter. Hosesandbeltshave been replacedalong with plugs, wires and a new radiator cap. An original-style generator is retained in lieu of a modern alternator conversion, though older wiring wasrecently updated.
Muchof the engine bay has beenrefinished within the last year, withformerly painteditemsstripped, cleaned, and refinishedincludingthe radiator, pulleys, dipsticks, distributorparts, oil filter housing, factory air cleaner, and more. Aged enginebay hardware items such asbrackets, throttle linkage, hood prop, and latch were also attended to.
The truck drives very well, with its 3-speedmanual shifting smoothly despite a non-synchro firstgear. Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels througha 2-speed transfer case, andsuspension is via leaf springs front and rear. Thetruck has been maintained as part ofa large private collection.
Theshort-wheelbase chassis presents clean-looking frame rails, outriggers, and floors thanks to a former lifetime in high and dry Bogotá.Occasional surface oxidation can be seenalong withareas of black sealer and overspray, but there has been no discovered notable rot and the underside will continue to be tidied while for sale.
We paid well over our asking price and that is before the thousands we into the truck to make it even cleaner and more well presented.
Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new car as soon as possible. My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Nissan (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 47,000 mile car, but however is above average for it's year. This is solid miles for Patrol of this year, but please just remember that no 50 year old car is perfect. It is though a clean, nice Patrol! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con on a car, I am not an inspection service. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech. Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!
