1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Description

1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

This is my wife's 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme. She has owned it for 10 years or so and only drives it in nice weather. The car was painted professionally by "Owen's Oldies" and the entire job cost $8000. The car has NO rust save a few bubbles here and there around door and window, (easy fix)... Underneath the car is perfect as are the quarter panels, fenders, floorboards, etc...It needs very little bodywork if any to make it showroom ready.

This Oldsmobile is a really nice car with original 350 Rocket and original automatic transmission. The engine has a rebuilt original GM quadrojet. It has nice ceramic headers and professional aluminized 2" dual crossover exhaust. The engine runs really well, but it does have a very slight lifter peck when it first starts and then clears right up...Probably an easy fix as the engine has never been touched internally since we owned it except for 3000 mile oil changes.

Interior is ORIGINAL black split bench interior that has never been touched or recovered. Dash is nice as is seat, etc...The original black carpet shows a little fade as it would for being 45 years old. Headliner is fine.

All electronics work good. We have installed mechanical gauges as well as original lights. There is a CD player and speaker system installed as well as satellite radio system should you desire that and it sounds good. Car has good original chrome and new starter. HEI ignition was installed and has improved the fuel mileage greatly over points system.

Wheels are 8 inch Corvette rally wheels with spinner bands and centers. They are original 1970's steel Corvette rally wheels that I had powder coated the original grey color. The tires are OK and are Firestone "Indy 500" radials....Car has original spare and jack, but I added a modern style GMjack as well. ..I also have the original set of Oldsmobile Rally wheels that came with the car that arepainted the same color as the car. These will come with the sale...Bands are included with these wheels as well should you wish to use these wheels instead of the existing wheels, (although I like these Original Corvette style wheels much better).

Clear Tennessee title and car comes with original owners manual, etc...This Cutlass was manufactured in Arlington Texas in 1971.

Really a nice car that needs a tiny bit of TLC to make it perfect, but my wife is tired of babying it and not being able to drive it in the wintertime...Our loss is your gain. it is only driven in great weather and garaged or carported otherwise.

Remember paint is REALLY nice, but it is not showroom perfect. It has a few scratches and flaws because it was painted 10 years ago and then garaged, so it will need a few minor touch ups...Mileage shows 24,511 miles, but I am sure that it is 124,511 miles as that is how high the odometer reads. All lights work and electronics are fine.

Why spend $15,000 on a car that needs a ton of money when you can buy one fixed less than that price? This car was VERY nice to begin with as we selected the best original Cutlass available to paint many years ago and then spent $8K with an original 1971 Oldsmobile "Bittersweet" code paint that was original to the vehicle in modern "base/clear" paint...I have never figured out why people spend all of this money on project cars when the can take one that needs nearly nothing for $20,000 less than they will spend restoring a pile of junk? That's WHY we spent the extra money years ago for a better car to begin with.

We are located in Crossville, TN which is directly on Interstate 40 between Knoxville and Nashville.

I will need a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of purchase and the remainder in cash at pickup. I can store the car for you up to 30 days while you arrange transport.

Email any questions....Nice little car for someone looking for one that they don't have to restore.
