1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass Description

1981 Olds Cutlass Calais 2 door, rear wheel drive coupe, the best equipped Cutlass you could buy in 1981, as no 442 or Hurst Olds was offered.
This car is a time capsule, just removed from 15 years of dry storage. Ordered new as a demo by a friend of mine who ran an Olds dealership, it was sold to its first owner, an older lady who put just over 60,000 miles on it until she traded it back in in 1995. Its second owner put just 19,000 summer miles on it until 2001, when it was stored. Current mileage is 79,820, may change as I am exercising it on sunny days. Car has not been out in winter since at least 1995, perhaps never. Therefore frame is in excellent condition, no repairs, none needed.
Well equipped with 260 V8, automatic floor shift with full console,T Tops(with original storage bags),bucket seats, power windows/locks, cruise, NK3 sport steering wheel, rear defroster, Landau roof, Delco AM/FM cassette(both work!), dash gauges with tach, and A/C. A/C is complete and compressor turns freely, probably needs recharge.
recent work done to the car since its removal from hibernation as follows;
oil/filter change, new air/fuel filters, all new tuneup parts(plugs,wires,cap,rotor)new brake pads,new choke pulloff, new struts for trunk lid.
work that remains to be done: heater core is bypassed; a new heater core in the box comes with car. gauges are currently inoperative, although speedometer, odometer, and tach work fine.
EXTERIOR CONDITION: Appears to be original paint.detailed when removed from storage, vertical surfaces still hold a nice shine, horizontals not so much. No rot. Various imperfections in paint and vinyl trim pieces. Landau roof is very good. You are seeing the car just as it was stored 15 years ago, just with a coat of wax. No attempt has been made to cure or hide imperfections. It is a very presentable survivor just as it is.
INTERIOR CONDITION: Carpets and seats are very nice. Door panels complete but have sun fade on vinyl. small burn spot near console ashtray. Dash is uncut and complete. Headliner is whole but has been well reattached by staples, not glue. Visors are ratty and are the worst part of interior
DRIVEABILITY: Car starts easily and goes down the road well. the 260 V8 is not the most powerful engine Olds ever built, but it performs as well as it can and delivers 18-25 MPG.transmission shifts well, front end is tight. tires are at least 15 years old but have good tread and I see no dry rot. One tire is of a different make.
This car is bone stock, with one exception; later model Cutlass chromed rallys were substituted long ago for the painted Rallys the car came with.
Note to potential out of state buyers; Maine does not/will not title vehicles older than 1995. please check your local DMV to see what they require. I am prepared to offer a notarized bill of sale. If your state requires a current registration from a seller, I will need to register the car and there will be a small extra fee to cover such.
the car will go off market if not sold by around November 1, as it will be going back in storage, so if it piques your interest, now's the time
if you have questions, EM me or advise your phone number and best time to call.thank you
