1977 was the fourth of four years that Olds served as the official pace car to the Indy 500 during the 1970's -

more than any other manufacturer! The car used for the 61st Indy 500 was a 77 Olds Delta 88 Targa Top driven by James Garner.

The car featured a unique targa top design that would not be available on the replicas.

Oldsmobile made a limited amount of replicas available for sale.

The package cost $914 and was only available on model N37, the Delta 88 Royale coupe.

  • CONDITION: EXTERIOR: Body is straight, no rust, has minimal bodywork on roof and trunk.Hood, trunk and roof repainted(NOT SHOW QUALITY). Unnoticeable at 15 feet! Could use new paint on hood, trunk and roof to be considered a show quality car! Front bumper in excellent condition. Rear bumper has no dents but is starting to show some surface rust!
  • INTERIOR: All original in EXCELLENT CONDITION. No damage or wear detected! Stock radio was replaced with an aftermarket Audiovox AM/FM Cassette. Radio powers on, but does not work due to antenna not working!Power Windows work but are slow moving. P-seat works, cold A/C, cruise(NOT TESTED), signal and headlamps in working condition, as well as wipers and interior lights.
  • MECHANICAL: Solid running 403 cu.in. motor with NO valve, rod or exhaust noises. NO LEAKS, NO OIL BURNING! Seems to be an all original untouched motor! I purchased the car from the original owner's daughter and she really had no information about the car. In the last three months a Brand new Flo-master exhaust system, new Good Year F60-15 Poly-Glas GT Tires, New front/rear brakes, New A/C compressor and dryer were all done!
  • TH350 trans shifts real nice, and no leaks! All new front end parts - Drives down the road straight and stops straight!
"THIS IS AN EXCELLENT DRIVER AS IS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There's an error in the above description "matching Number TH 350 Trans." Upon a further inspection, I believe the transmission is NOT original. It seems to be one from the late 60's to early 70's TH350. Please don't be misled, as it's an excellent transmission with no problems whatsoever! Also, I stated I was the "second owner", but in reality, I am the third owner. The second owner was the original owner's daughter. She took possession of the car in 1992. The car was originally purchased in Albion, Indiana on 7/18/1977 and was transported to Titusville, Florida where it was titled and registered. I have copies of the previous owners title/registration showing the details. I also have the original "Certificate Of Gross Retail Or Use Tax Paid On Purchase Of Motor Vehicle" from Indiana Dept. Of State Revenue showing the tax exempt status for vehicles being transported and titled in another state!
