Selling my Survivor 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible with a documented 36,690 actual miles. This car has original dealer order form, dealer invoice, Owner’s Manual with Protecto Plate, service records, state inspections with recorded mileage, and title records showing actual miles from previous owners over 50 years. The car was ordered new in April 1966 at Carl Schmidt Oldsmobile in Ohio. Fortunately the car only spent about 2 years in Ohio, followed by about 1.5 years in Virginia, and then spent the rest of it’s time garaged in Florida until 2014. The first owner had the car until 1998, with 35,001 actual miles shown on the title. The second owner had it until 2008, with only 35,557 miles shown at time of sale.
Car has the original strong 330 V8, automatic with console shift, bucket seats, power steering, and power drum brakes. The car retains it’s original Ocean Mist paint and black bucket seat/console interior. Everything works, and the car drives remarkably well and quiet, with no squeaks or rattles. The only operational flaw is the original AM radio- works, but volume is stuck on high. The paint is not perfect; there are some door dings, a few small dings in the hood, and in some areas the paint has been touched up with the factory GM brushed on paint. There is some fading and bird stains on the hood. Overall this car looks great from about 6 feet away – but the 50 year old paint shows age and patina. The seats are very nice but there are a few minor areas where seams are starting to separate. Dash pad is excellent. I believe the top is original (shows some wear) – but I am not 100% certain. The underside is very clean. It is very quiet with that great Olds rumble – even though it has it’s original GM date coded January 1966 muffler and resonator. It also has the original date-coded spark plug wires (see photos). I added new Uniroyal radials with correct ½ inch whitewalls that closely match the original Uniroyal bias ply spare tire. The SS1 Olds chrome wheels are new reproductions and look excellent. The chrome and side stainless is excellent. A previous owner had the brakes serviced – and saved the original master cylinder and booster, upper hose, and fuel pump. Top motor has been replaced and original saved. The original hubcaps are included. There is no evidence of accident repair; the car has never needed any rust repair.
This is about as close as you can get to a new 1966 Cutlass convertible. It has always been maintained and cherished, and has won awards at local shows in “Survivor” Classes. If you are in the Oldsmobile Club you should have this car judged at a national meet. There is no warranty and car is sold as is. Buyer must arrange his own shipping – and I will assist with pickup. Car is located in Edmond, OK and can be viewed by appointment evenings or weekends. Thanks for viewing this auction.
