'70 Olds 442 Convertible in action above ^ ^
This special 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertible was purchased new at Don Davis Oldsmobile in Arlington, Texas by a gentleman who worked at GM's Arlington, Texas plant. It would remain in Texas for many years until my friend acquired the car in 1995 with 94,000 miles on the car. The car now has 106852 original miles. He has kept this car garaged & covered during his proud tenure of ownership. It has also been driven & maintained with documents & receipts to show. The numbers matching original 455 engine was previously overhauled prior to my friend's ownership. The number's matching transmission was overhauled at 103,001. At this time the radiator was also re-cored. This car has had one professional repaint of the original Azure Blue color that was completed in 2003 and is in great shape. This has always been a dry climate car.
This car was ordered in this beautiful Azure Blue color with blue interior & dark blue convertible top. Very few 442 Oldsmobiles were ordered in this combination. Always a Texas car, this example retains straight original body panels and sheetmetal throughout. The paint shows beautifully. The factory 14" Rally Wheels wear correct Goodyear Polyglas G70-14s all around.
Open the doors to 1970 and the beautiful Oldsmobile blue interior (973 TRIM). The 442 came standard with bucket seating and a center console. This car is also equipped with the optional HURST Dual Gate shifter.
The dash displays the optional Rally Pac gauges with tachometer & clock. A slightly different blue color-keyed Olds Starfire steering wheel was installed to match the interior years ago. The dash woodgrain applique is in excellent condition, accompanied by the 4-4-2 badge. The mileage reading is correct to this car. The Rally Pac Dash shows very well. This car is also optioned with air conditioning, fully functional.
The driver's seat shows a seam separation, the upholstery in otherwise great shape & correct.
The factory air conditioning blows cold. The heat blows hot. The AM/FM Delco radio works correctly too.
We have the owner's manual along with some original documentation and many receipts. The 442 standard center console is paired with the optional W-26 HURST Dual Gate shifter.
This is the correct W-25 Twin Duct Ram Air "OAI, Outside Air Induction" Hood with locks.
The door panels are in good condition. The woodgrain trim is wavy on these panels. The power windows are all working as is the power convertible top, redone in its correct dark blue color.
The Azure blue paint is a perfect fit for the dark blue hood duct stripes. Dark blue pinstriping is nicely done along the body line. Note the fit and finish of this Oldsmobile is excellent.
The bumper chrome is in good condition front to back. Note the trumpet exhaust tips (sounds excellent)
Under the hood is the numbers matching original 455/365HP 4bbl V8. See the engine pad partial VIN & date stamping # (30M121333) below. This previously rebuilt powerplant is paired with the overhauled original number's matching(30M121333)TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. The 3.23 geared differential is also original to the car. The Outside Air Induction system works correctly as well. This car is equipped with air conditioning, power steering, and power front disc brakes.

The transmission VIN stamping is shown in the photo above.

The original trim identification plate is in place as well. This car was built the 1st week of September 1969 (09A) in Lansing, Michigan (LAN). Its factory color combination is Azure Blue (20) with Blue Interior (973) and a Dark Blue top (C)
The trunk is in great shape as is the undercarriage, inner quarter panels, rocker panels, inner fenders, core support, inner wheel wells, etc. We have a factory assembly manual that will be included along with a factory chassis service manual & some Oldsmobile exclusive literature.
The door undersides are in excellent condition.
All of the glass is in very good condition as are the rubber seals.
