1972 Oldsmobile 442 convertible Description

Mint, Low miles, Unmolested

1972 Olds Cutlass 442 Convertible

I am selling my beautiful, 3-owner, 1972 442 Convertible. This is an extremely low mileage car: 96,000 miles, and the originality and magnificent condition cause me to believe this to be true. Look for yourself—I am sure you will agree. I am only selling due to old age (me, not the car) and poor health. This is an honest, mint, unmolested W-29 442. Only the rear cut-out bumper is incorrect. It was damaged by the elderly second owner years ago, and not wanting to spend the extra $50 for the cut-out bumper he installed a NOS stock bumper; otherwise, it has all of its W-29 features.

The car is rust-free! Body—floors---frame—trunk—everything. One re-paint of the original color 8 years ago. The sheet metal is perfect, all shut lines are correct, the doors close with the touch of a finger. All of the chrome and stainless is perfect, as can be seen in the pictures. The top is 2 years old and has always been garaged. Looks as new as the day it was installed 2 years ago. The bucket seat/console interior is perfect and correct for the year. No cracks or splits. Door panels are also perfect. The “tic tock tac” functions correctly; the 442 gauge package works properly except a separate temperature gauge was installed and it is very accurate. It never goes over 180, even on hot days with the air conditioner on. Mechanically, everything works as it should. The original 350 engine has no leaks, smoke, noises—other than a great dual exhaust note. Transmission shifts exactly as it should and again—no leaks! It is equipped with the disc brake option and they are also perfect.

This is a great, mint, original, very reliable cruiser and a show winner. Although not a 455, the 350 4 bbl provides plenty of get up and go with wonderful exhaust music. Wherever we go, it is always one of the most popular cars, earning more than its share of awards and trophies. I could probably write another ten pages about my 442 and still forget something. If you have any questions, I will answer through ebay messages or, if you prefer, call me at 917-721-9919 before 9 p.m. eastern time. Or better yet, come and see it for yourself!

Thank you for your interest,

Fred
