Original engine and transmission, no reserve
1954 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Description
Original Super 88 bought new from Bradley Oldsmobile, Tulsa Oklahoma and in Texas until 1987 (see photos).
The following modifications were done by a previous owner:
- Dual exhausts w/Flowmaster mufflers
- GM hydrovac brake booster
The good:
- Quiet running original engine, starts on first try, no smoke and excellent oil pressure
- Original Rochester 4 barrel carburetor.
- Rust free body with the exception of a small hole in the right rear passenger floor and very minor bubble on front left fender by door
- Charging system works fine.
- Optima battery (2.5 years old)
- Cooling system regulates fine.
The bad:
- Brakes work but Hydrovac needs repair. I would not trust the brakes on the street until either the Hydrovac is repaired or removed from the system (this would return the brakes to the original manual brakes).
- Transmission leaks at the front. It shifts through all the gears but in my opinion the 2nd to 3rd shift is harsh.
- Rear end makes noise when coasting.
- Horn, turn signals, heater blower, and radio do not work
- Knob for drivers vent window doesn't stay on.
- Slight binding of right passenger door on fender when opened.
I have put a video on YouTube. Do a search for "1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 eBay" to find the video.
Inspection of the vehicle is welcomed.
Vehicle has current California registration and a clear title. I purchased this Oldmobile 3 years ago but have run out of time and space to give it proper attention. Mileage is unknown. Vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, and will need to be moved via trailer due to brakes.
