The car has 51,000 original miles, and reportedly, the (original) engine itself has approximately 20,000 miles. The original owner removed the original 350 engine in approximately 1974, and installed a 455 engine for more performance. The original 350 engine was saved, and put back in the car shortly before his death, approximately 12 years ago. The 4-4-2was in the care of the original owner's daughter from 2005 until earlier this year, and was driven very little in that time. The car was repainted 10 years ago. The automatic transmission is NOT original to the car.
Documentation includes broadcast card (found under the passenger side bucket seat, and showing the W-29 option), window sticker, dealer order form, purchase invoice with option codes, pre-delivery inspection sheet, purchase thank you letter from Oldsmobile, warranty booklet, protecto plate, 1972 payment receipts, andowner's manual. The car was ordered from Herman Motors, in Mattoon, Illinois,by the original owner after coming back from military duty. The car was driven throughIllinois winters for the first few years. After that time, the car was stored during winter months, and overall driven sparingly.
This is not a national meet show car, but rather a nice local car show driver. The underside is very solid, albeit dirty. The car will benefit from a thorough cleaning and detailing. Rust areas include paint bubbling on the lower drivers side and passenger side fenders, paint bubbling on the lower edge of the decklid, and a rust hole in thelower inside area of the driver's door (see photos). The car has an aftermarket radio and aftermarket speakers on top of the rear deck package tray. The original front floor mats are still in the car, while the rear mats disappeared at some pointover the years. The original owner sprayed some type of rustproofing product on the inside lower quarter panels (see inside of trunk photo). There is a toggle switch under the dash that at this point is a mystery as far as what it controls.
The car is being sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Not interested in trades. I have described the car to the best of my ability. The car is located in Jackson, Michigan. Serious buyers may call 312-237-0361 with any questions, or to schedule an inspection.
