The original mileage is just over 66,xxx miles, and as evidenced by the service sticker in the door jamb, it's had less than 2000 miles on since the last oil change, before it was parked. This car still has it's original T3 headlamps, Y59 battery, original jack and spare in the trunk, original convertible top tonneau cover (and plastic bag), ...original dated (13 E 66) seatbelts, etc. All four original blue painted steel wheels (steelies) with hubcaps, everything is still there. The convertible top has NO tears and the plastic back window is in tact as well (car had wool blankets over the roof while in the barn). This car is NOT rusted away. Other than minor surface rust, there is nothing major and NO rot anywhere. Floor and trunk, all underneath is not even pitted. Notice the photo of the trunk with the mat pulled up, ..the blue paint is as clean as new! With that said, the bad is the dented Right rear quarter panel and mice did a number on the interior. Reference the photos, the carpet under the floor mat(s) looks like new!, but it will most likely need replacing due to the mice. Included with the car is a complete set of NEW locks and keys. We were unable to locate the originals and ended up drilling the trunk lock to access. We do have the original owners manual as well as a couple original photos of the car in it's day AND it's original 1966 Virginia license plates! Also to note (again refer to the photos) the car still retains it's original dealer emblem, as the car was purchased new from Wayne Oldsmobile in Newburgh, NY (which has long since been out of business).
I know the story of this car, it was parked in the late 70's (notice the 1978 inspection sticker in the windshield) when the owner passed away unexpectedly. The car was running fine up until that day with less than 67,000 miles on it. I have not attempted to start it, but I suspect without question with a battery and new gas there is no reason to believe it won't start right up and I do not believe the engine would even need to be rebuilt. As for the body, other than the dented quarter, that a good body person could (and should) repair, the car will require NO panel replacement. The doors open and close like new!, windows crank up and down very easily. Personally, I would NOT repaint this car, it is a perfect candidate to be cleaned up and driven as a true survivor.
To note, ...I DO have clear title to the vehicle (transferable registration for NY state, since it's pre-73).
The vehicle is available for inspection (obviously by appointment), for those interested. Feel free to contact me. This car is available for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
