1968 Oldsmobile 442 Description

You are viewing a remarkable survivor, this GM Canadian Documented Oldsmobile 442 has logged in just 49,400 careful miles. It is also documented with 4 Factory Build Sheets, Original Protecto Plate which is fromBarberMotors Elyria Ohio Delivered on May 16 1968, In addition it also has its Original Keys wrapped in the leather case with Barber Motors Stamped in Leather Case. And OriginalOldsmobileManual.

The car retains 98 % Original GM Paint which at sometime years ago was clear coated over to give it more gloss. it is a piece people just keep staring at car shows because its so straight. Yes the paint is checking in areas and has some chips and such but no one in there right mind would paint this car.

This car has all its original sheet metal,Original uncut quarters,Underneath the floors have some of its original black factory paint (remarkable) The remainder of the floors and frame show slight surface rust, there is a little ding in the passenger quarter the size of a Penny, One Scratch in the drivers door, and one area in the drivers quarter around the size of a hand that feels like its sand paper. Which I believe is the clear coat that lifted, This is a No Hit Body, No Rust Body. You be hard pressed to find any filler in this car.

The Chrome and Stainless along with glass are original and impeccable condition. The interior is all original and its in perfect condition . Car has all T3 headlights.

The doors shut like a brand new car.The originalvinyl top is excellent,Everything works, including the buzzer if you keep the key in and open the doors, the back up lights work, idiot light works, dome light, gauge lights. Clock works, radio works. Horn works, heat, blinker, brake lights etc. The engine runs fantastic and retains its original Rochester carb, it was painted and hoses and belts replaced,. It is the Original Engine, I sanded the deck where the vin is and found the vin stamped in it, I don’t know if it was ever rebuilt or touched but it has a nice rumble to it and pulls strong through each gear, the transmission shifts crisp and there is no noise in the Posi rear. I don’t know what gear it is but it seams as though it was changed because the speedo is 7 miles an hour to fast. It feels like a 3:55. The floor and frame are perfect and look great, the trunk has original splatter paint . this car drives like it was new, not a rattle, steering is super tight. Car does have a nice flow master muffler system on it.

Now for the mystery it says Rally Pac but I gotta tell you there is no Rally Pac it has dummy lights and everything works and under the dah it looks original so go figur, could GM forgot it in the build who knows.

Also somebody added front disc brakes, a nice edition but not original to this car. And I added a FM Converter for some Tunes.

The Ba, Not much really. The car has a small differential leak . Other then that this car isphenomenal

I have added many video links and pictures. I will let those and my feed back be the judge.

This car has a clear private individual title from Indiana that shows actual miles at 45,500 in May of 2010, since then there have been approx 4,000 careful miles put on car.Carshows 49,400 today

A pleasure to own and drive. For the True 442 Purist.

You can search the country and be hard pressed to find something this original .
