1973 Hurst Olds, Black with a black interior. 455 engine, converted to a 5 speed manuel trans, Silver Sport TKO 500 transmission kit. Engine has new Mondello –Edelbrock Aluminum heads, Roller Rockers, Edelbrock 800 CFM carb, headers. The car has new shocks, brakes, radiator re-cored, Air Conditioning works and has been converted to R-134a, new vinyl top, BF Goodrich tires. Extremely fast, yet very easy to drive.
The car was originally purchased in Houston in 1973, the original owner son inherited the car roughly 10 years ago. It was sold in 2017 to a gentleman in Houston that in turn sold it to me in 2018. The car appears to have had the engine and original transmission rebuilt, but I wanted something a bit faster. When my mechanic replaced the heads, he said that he could tell the engine was recently rebuilt with high lift cam, 30 over forged pistons and the cylinders still had the hone marks.
This is a very solid car, not perfect, but a car you could drive to a car show and be proud of. I have the original heads, they appear to have been ported. It had headers and an Offenhauser aluminum intake when I bought it. I also have the original turbo 400 transmission and hurst shifter that go with the car.
When I replaced the vinyl top there was some minor rust under the old top, it did not penetrate through the metal. I had it all properly repaired and had the top resprayed to a nice finish. It looked so good, I thought about not putting the vinyl back on. The paint on the corner of the trunk lid had chipped off, so I had the trunk resprayed as well, but I have not replaced the gold stripe at the back
