This 1966 Oldsmobile is, simply put, amazing in every possible way. The car is a ONE-OWNER from new car that has been cherished it's entire life. The owner was a young Vietnam veteran who bought the car when he returned home to St. Louis after the war. He purchased his dream car at Yates Oldsmobile in St. Louis with the money he had earned during his service. Recently he had the car completely restored. A no-expense-spared, complete nut and bolt... restoration to the very highest standard. The car is truly magnificent and completely factory correct. The Burgundy Mist paint is deep and flawless and would do justice to collector cars ten times the price of this Olds. There is no waviness whatsoever to any of the panels. The interior is all new, with new dash pad, carpet, and seats. The seats have not just been recovered; they have been completely rebuilt with painted frames, new padding, chrome trim, and beautiful backs. The top is new as well. The hydraulic action of the convertible top is smooth and accurate. The car shows and drives like new. There is effortless power, making the car feel light and nimble, and it shifts through the gears beautifully. All new tires--correct redlines--detailed original engine ordered with factory high compression option. Even the original Yates Oldsmobile license plate surround is on the car. A neat sideline is that Yates Oldsmobile advertisements in the 60's featured Robert (Bob) Pettit Jr, the first professional basketball player to score 20,000 points. Pettit played for the Hawks, first in Milwaukee and then in St. Louis, and it was often said that if Pettit wore or drove it, people would go out and buy it. This convertible Oldsmobile is a fantastic classic that can be enjoyed immediately, either for cruises or to go win car shows. Just as nice as it gets.
