1967 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe Description

1967 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe

When it comes to 60's GM muscle, Oldsmobile enthusiasts often spend years searching for a clean, numbers matching car that's worthy of investment grade money. But every once in a while, a pristine rocket hits our website and causes a BIG commotion which results in a flood of calls and one lucky buyer finally cashing in on a rare opportunity. My Advice...Call NOW!

Benefitting from a frame off rotisserie restoration, this car was brought back to life in a big way. Totally redone, excepting for an engine rebuild which remained sealed, just cleaned and painted, this car has never seen rain, or any bad weather. As I said Call NOW!

Exterior
Panels were painted with direct to substrate build primer and then hours of block sanding. After this process, 2 coats of base and clear coated. Meanwhile hours heat gun stripping the underside of its rustproofing and dirt right down to bare frame. Then a shot of POR 15 Chassis Black just like the factory would do, and let the assembly begin! At this point all re-chroming was initiated, as well as the consigner polishing all the stainless...for days to get the shine he needed. A rare dealer installed OAI (outside air induction) is included, as too are redline 15" tires.

Interior
Making use of the structures of the seats which were totally rebuilt with foam, and red vinyl to match the factory, a new dash, new door panels, and a fresh roll of carpet, bring this interior right back to the original factory state. Due to the original rally pack instruments being vague, a new set of aftermarket gauges keeps track of vital functions. Fronting the restored dash is an original restored steering wheel. Other features and creature comforts include, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, power driver's seat, tilt steering wheel, AM/FM radio, and a rear speaker.

Drivetrain
After a technical check of the compression and vacuum, it was decided to leave the original engine sealed, and do a thorough cleanup and repaint all to factory spec. All engine accessories were rebuilt to factory specs, and reinstalled. The original Muncie transmission was totally rebuilt and bolted back on to the now gleaming engine.

Undercarriage
Fully stripped and restored adding the disc brakes to the front (which was an option in keeping with originality) new suspension, a rebuilt rear axle with new seals and gaskets, and air shocks to give the car a raked look (Included are the original factory style spiral shocks)

A consigner with multi talents and enough motivation to build his career, build his own house, and build most of the colonial style furniture to fill it, gets the bug to restore a version of his first love of a car he bought new in the 60's and then sold, the Olds 442. An AACA 1st Junior Award, AACA 1st Senior scoring 400/400, Oldsmobile Division car of the year in 2015, and a Second Place in the prestigious Hemming's Motor News Concours D'Elegance at Saratoga Springs, New York. As I said Call NOW!
