Previous buyer was non responsive. So I am relisting this Oldsmobile 1971 Cutlass SX Convertible.Yes, this is a true one of 357 SX convertibles produced in 1971.Basically a 442 in stealth mode, with the same 455 4BBL engine that was used in the 442.Make no mistake, this is a project car for sure. One family owned until I picked it up 4 years ago.I purchased it from the daughter of the original owner who special ordered this car from a Northern Virginia dealer in 1971.This car is about as original as any of us could find.It has the original numbers matching block and G head castings. Although I have not looked for the VIN# on the turbo 400 transmission, I have photographed the plate on the passenger side of the trans with the codes. I have maintenance records going back to 1972, along with yearly registration cards.I have fantastic purchase documentation to verify that this is areal SX,including the following:
1. Retail Order for a Motor Vehicle
2.Dealer Invoice
3.Car shipping order (Dealer Copy).
4.Oldsmobile Production Code Sheet
5.Oldsmobile Pre-Delivery Service an Adjustment Check Sheet
6.Broadcast sheet
7.1971 Oldsmobile New Vehicle Warranty Booklet
8.Promissory Note
9.Protecto Plate
10.Owners Manual
11.Dealer Thank You Letter
Options on this car are documented by all of this paperwork and are as follows:
Tinted Glass, Deluxe Belts, Front and rear floor mats (did not survive), Sports Mirrors, Power Disc Brakes, Turbo 400 Transmission, WW Tires (long gone),Clock, Convenience Lamp Group, SX Package (Y79), Power windows, Air Conditioning, Positraction Rear (still has the tag), Power Steering, Super Stock 1 Wheels, AM-FM Stereo (also long gone), and finally, the W26 DUAL GATE CONSOLE!
Car is painted in its correct Sherwood Green color. Original interior still in the car is Sienna! And the original top was done in Sandlewood. This is very possibly the only 1971 Cutlass SX convertible ever ordered in these colors.
The motor turns by hand, but has not been run in a number of years.Oil is clean and the coolant in the radiator is full and a bright green!Transmission fluid looks good also.To restore this car, you will need to replace passenger floors, trunk floor, rear quarters, trunk lid, convertible top, bumpers (missing thecut-out rear bumper), exhaust, brakes, and the majority of the interior. Doors have some minor rust at the bottom corners (very usable).Front Fenders look like NOS replacements and have NO RUST in them at all that I can find!Frame has some scale but looks completely solid. Will need new Core support (rust under battery tray).I tested all power windows and all seem to be working.
I have a clear title in MY NAME for the car. 4 years have gone by and I am nowhere on getting it restored. I realize now that this dream is not going to come true.I really hope the buyer of this car can bring it back to its former glory. I would be happy to answer any questions, or take additional photographs.Vehicle will be sold with no warranty, expressed or implied. Pickup and shipping is total responsibility of the BUYER. Can hold the car for pickup for 30 days
