Classic 1976 Olds Regency 98
1976 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency Description
A real survivor, a classic cruiser with all the style and elegance of the days when cars were automobiles. It is a pleasure to drive and has power to spare. A four door hardtop, this is top of the line luxurious and in mint condition. The Regency 98 model was a trim upgrade, competing head to head with Cadillac Fleetwood. The pillow back velour upholstery provides all the interior luxury you would expect.
My GM book says there were 16,802 of these cars built but they are hard to find now, having succumbed to rust and other reasons.
This one is a survivor and will last many more decades if properly maintained. And it's survival is supported by the unique GMC motorhome which used the same 455 cu.in. engine in it's front wheel drive train. Of the 12,000 built between 1973 and 1978, most had the 455 engine and the later units had a downsized 403. More than three fourths are still in active use with many shops offering support and parts.
The owner is more than 90 years of age and says sell! This car originally belonged to an older sister who recently passed away. It was purchased new in 1976 for her sister's 56th birthday and has been a Sunday and special occasion car with very little use over the years.
It has had excellent periodic maintenance and a complete restoration in 2005 which included paint. The full vinyl top is perfect, the power windows all work, as well as everything else. Other features like the the driver's outside mirror with visible outside temperature
reader is rarely found any more.
There are also 26 of the 8-track music tapes that go with the car and a list of those is available on request. The car is free of rust and the chrome is in very good condition. The trunk is huge and has a full size spare tire, jack and a red toolbox for shows. It has garnered more than a few trophies in shows. Looking for the best? Have a close look at this one!
