1974 Jensen Interceptor III-GREAT PROJECT
1974 Other Makes Interceptor III Description
Time has come for me to set free the Interceptor (2210-1256) which I have owned for almost 40 (!) years.I bought the car for my daily driver in 1979 with 17,074 miles. Now showing accurately at 56,000. Less than 1,00/yr.
It was in the garage, not driven, but started monthly and backed in and out of the driveway since 2009.The recent intent was to "renovate" her but under closer examination it's too much for me to bite off as most Restorers are saying up to 2 years and I need something to enjoy this Spring.
So, here's the deal:[*]The car is bone stock. No one messed w/wiring or anything else that might make a restoration unnecessarily "challenging".[*]Full bare metal respray in 1983 to a real pretty dark grey metallic. No overspray or evidence of color change. Originally light silver.[*]Never in an accident. No cracks in metal.[*]440 ci engine and engine compartment as new if a bit dusty. Upgraded fans. Starts and runs smooth. Automatic trans shifts well and was serviced 17,000 miles ago.[*]Lear Jet AM/FM/8 track. Radio works out of 2 speakers. 8 track kind of works but I have replacement belt.[*]Auto antenna does not work.[*]Wine leather seats OK in front (good in back) but have age and some fading so need re-dyingof recovering. Wood console crazed.[*]The leather behind the rear seats got fried by the sun so it definitely needs replacing.[*]White headliner and visors are a perfect as possible.[*]Rust in usual places: floorboards and passenger footwell, behind polished sill protectors. Probably needs inner and outer sills.[*]All metal and any patch panel needed are available new.[*]Hood rust thru above overflow tank. Louvered bonnet.[*]Recently had brakes gone over and they are fine. New pads <3,00 miles ago.[*]New tires 225/70R15 Nexen's on wheels w/o curb rash.[*]Have original Dunlop spare that was never on the ground.[*]Exhaust renewed from front pipe rearward. New Stainless Steel mufflers and Resonators; sounds NICE![*]I have service records from 1979.[*]Original Owners manual and Workshop manual
What I feel, and have been told, it that this is an excellent base for someone's restoration that may be able to do some things himself (or herself) or where the repair rates are way lower than the Washington, DC area (like $135/hr)..
Prices are all over the place now for Interceptors of all conditions. I think this is priced reasonably based on what else is available.Sold As-Is and where is. Since it runs it is easily transported. Clear Title.Deposit required within 24 hours with full balance due and cleared prior to release.
