The Hudson Motor Car Company was established in 1909 by eight Detroit businessmen to bring a mid-scale luxury vehicle to market. Originally fitted with a balanced six cylinder engine that performed so well, ales lead the company to be the third best-selling car by 1929! A huge feat considering the top two were Ford and Chevrolet. This led to the new 218.8ci Flathead Straight 8 cylinder engine introduced in 1930 to help them continue to pursue prospective buyers. Its block and crankcase were cast as one unit, itted with two overhead cylinder heads. The crankshaft was balanced like the Super Six engine they had tremendous success with. This involved 5 main bearings and 8 integral counterweights. It produced an incredible 80 horsepower that would have been very impressive for its day!

Under the hood lies its original, ate coded 219ci Straight 8 engine (stamped #51936) mated to a 3-speed transmission with free-wheel feature, nd 4.27:1 rear axle. Features were numerous on the Hudson 8 lineup and included a dual brake system incorporating the mechanical emergency brake to allow all four wheels to help in stopping power, ear rumble seat, 0-spoke wood wheels wrapped in 5.25/5.50-18 4-ply tubed tires, op-out front windscreen, ual cowl vents, anually operated hood vents, oll-down rear window, ood ornament, indshield visor, .A. Laboratories hot water heater, nterior dome light, nd more!
Our example retains its original date-coded drivetrain throughout including the Marvel E-type carburetor with heat control system, roper 1931 heads, ngine splash pans, arner free-wheeling transmission, actory Hudson Super Built steel body with brass body tag, cCord radiator, nd more! The only modern contributions include an electronic fuel delivery system and aftermarket hood assist handles. This wonderful Hudson 3-window was located in a Nashville, N collector where it was properly treated to a cosmetic restoration and continued to show exceptionally well today.
