1983 Zimmer Convertible Golden Spirit
1983 Other Makes Description
This is a 1983 Golden Spirit Zimmer convertible. I have owned this rare car for 8 years and driven it nearly across the country from Scottsdale Arizona to Maine. There were approximately1800 Zimmers built at PompanoBeach, Florida and of these only about 50 were convertibles. Apparently the car was returned to the factory and rebuilt and retrofitted with the present 1988 or 89 convertible body. It may have been the last one rolled out of the factory. There has been considerable work done to the vehicle recently including a rebuilt rear end and new rear coil springs, replaced the steering rack, new brakes. all new hoses, new carburetor, water pump as well as a recentcomplete tune-up. The Golden Spirit hood ornament has been newly gold plated. Numerous other parts of the car have had considerable work. However it does show signs of age. It was originally white and sometime in the past it was repainted red. The paint is passable but not perfect. The seats could stand to be redone also. The rebuilt speedometer shows some 6000 miles and I can't recall the previous mileage. However it probably has around40,000 original miles. The car does have several squeakshere and there and the five liter high output V8 Ford motor idles rough but purrs right along going down the highway. This car is lots of fun and is a head turner everywhere you go. Feel free to come look at the car in Rockland Maine. Also a number of years ago, the state of Arizona had a misunderstandingconcerning the vin and issued a new state issued numberAZ260783 which Ebay can't handle so I have listed the original vin.
