This is a great opportunity to own an authentic Flathead V8 powered Boattail Speedster that is Pre-War correct

Before road racing becameorganized here in the late 1950's, most race cars in the United States were built and raced on oval tracks, and this car was built and raced in Alabama.

But with roadracing becoming popular here after WWII, many of these cars now compete in Vintage Roadracing Events and Hillclimb, both here, and Abroad.

This is NOT a newly built replica or 'clone' ...

Thisis the real deal ...

a look up underneath the car, shows it to be in unrestored condition, with hundreds of original small machine screws and square nuts,

attesting to it's Originality

I found this authentic Southern Boat Tail Speedster in storage, asrestoration had been stalled due to owners health.

It was being set up to run both on the street and track.

The car was built by Jake Banks of Banks Auto Parts, Huntsville Alabama and was last raced in the 50's.

Mr Banks died in 1988., and the car was later sold by his Estate.

This is NOT a replica. We found this '38 Ford V8 powered, 2-passenger steel-bodied Boat-tail Speedster, here in Alabama. The car is nearly all restored, but work had stalled due to the owner's illness.

The V8 motor starts easily, and runs well. Clutch, brakes, and steering are good, and the car is fun to drive. It will need an appropriate gauge panel. There is a functioning panel, but it is so the car may be run and driven, andis not completed.

The tires hold air adequate to drive, but they are old and need replacement before serious use.

The car is Registered and Insured, and is driven weekly, making transport, export and registration 'easy'.

The wheels are the VERY desirable RARE'wide five' style. Rear mounted fuel cell, electric fuel pump, electric radiator fan ( non vintage, but practical ), new metal brake lines and hoses, vintage Banjo Style steering wheel, ' Professionally built' steel body is rolled around cockpit area. Hundreds of small machine screws and SQUARE nuts used in the body. This is typical construction and quality workmanship of the period.

Original rear push ba, side knerf bars protect rear tires . black paint is presentable, and appears to be over a bare metal restoration . the body work is good, and shows to be typical of American hand-built specials of the Period

itemsnot completed include wiring lights, and proper flooringto firewall.

This has been a fun car to own and drive, but since turning 74, I am encouraged to sell most of my cars, and begin to close my restoration shop,

Offers considered, to end the sale early
