1929 Franklin 135 Sport Sedan Automobile
1929 Other Makes Franklin Description
You are bidding on a 1929 Franklin 135 Sport Sedan, the car runs and drives well. The interior was redone in the early 80's and as you can see from the photos the back seat is in excellent condition. The frame is solid and the vehicle has been garage stored on a concrete surface. This would be a great project car with it's unique suicide doors and rock solid body. This is a rare find and Franklins do not come up often for sale. There are some mechanical features to note, the breaks are not working so I have not driven the vehicle over 15 mph. The odometer reads 66,465 but original mileage cannot be verified. Also note, the paint is coming off in many places and does have some nicks, scratches and dents, but seems solid overall, some wood damage on driver side headboard above driver window, one rear window is cracked. I tried to get as detailed pictures as possible.
The car has been in the family for over 50 years and was originally owned by my grandfather. He was an avid Franklin collector and used this car to drive to shows all over the country. From what I can tell, he added an overdrive (engages and disengages smoothly), high speed cooling fan, air shock absorbers, as well as modified the carburetor. I believe the modifications were done in the early 80's. To get the car started I bypassed the original tank as the cap is missing and tank is dirty. The engine number is 35-137649 The plate on the driver side floor reads "135 Sport Sedan W.B. Co 380" Please email with questions. This vehicle has no written or implied warranty and is sold as is.
