2002 OKANEV ... LSVRussian Electric CarTest mules for North American market . Notice: Because Ebay would not accept the Russian VIN I have it listed as a 1980 but it is a 2002 I bought this car along with 8 others several years ago with the intention of using them in a rental fleet. Due to insurance cost the project never went forward. These cars were new test vehicles built in Russia using a Fiat body, the cars were brought to Canada as part of the testing process. Gas powered versions of the OKA are fairly common in Russia and now street legal electric versions are available to the public as well. All of the OKAs I have, have had the electric motors and batteries removed and are not included. The motors weredisassembled at the facility, examinedand then scrapped. Electric motors are available from OKA for between 450.00 and 850.00 depending on the horse power. Because the cars use a Spicer powertrain, just about any electric vehicle motor will work. In the 3 that I have on the road now I installed used golf cart parts in one and used GEM motors in the other two, the GEM motors worked best for power and I bought them on ebay for around 300.00 each. The OKA motors aregovernedto 25/MPH with thegovernorsdisconnectedthey can reach speeds over 40/MPH with GEM motors mineexceeds60/MPHThis car is considered theirLuxury Model with alloy wheels and upgrade interior. Mechanical:The car appears to be complete with the exception of the motor and batteries. There are a couple of boxes of parts that are in the trunk that were removed from the car because they are not used in the electrical conversion such as engine fans and heater cores that sort of thing. Interior:The car is for the most part new with only a couple of hundred test miles so the interior is very good. Body:This car is all metal not plastic of fibreglass. There are some small dents and scrapes from being moved around the warehouse over the years but nothing serious. Overall: The car isabsolutelyunique.Late model Russian cars areextremelyrare in North America and being an electric test mule is that much rarer. Because the bodies were made by Fiat parts are easy to get, the same with the Spicer powertrain. Unlike most conventional Low Speed Electric Vehicles this is a real car not a plastic body go cart. When using a GEM motors the car is powerful and practical for daily commutes. They are just slightly bigger than a Smart car and have the advantage of a rear seat. I have one OKA that was tested as arallycar and had a motorcycle engine installed. That car has a roll cage as well. I have 4 cars left and will be keeping one and selling the rest. This car is sold on a bill of sale. If you are considering a neighbourhood electric vehicle and can't afford to spend a fortune on a Tesla or don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a cheap plastic toy then this may be the car for you. Once you install batteries and a motor you will be in a very unique real car for a fraction of the price of a cheaply builtChinese car.
