1937 Packard 115-C Description

82-year-old mechanic considering retirement seeks a good home for his1937 Packard 115-C 1082 Six Touring Sedan in excellent condition.
Fully restored in the early 1970's, this car has aged remarkably well. The previous owner, a former customer, reportedly spent more than $20,000 on the body-off restoration (a substantial sum in the early 1970's!) The engine was rebuilt at that time and has less than 700 miles on it (currently 687 on the complete restoration, as of this auction listing).
Serviced exclusively by the current owner, a career mechanic, since 1976 (when it was a customer's car), this Packard has been impeccably maintained and stored for the last 40 years in Los Angeles, California. Having serviced the car faithfully and honestly for 20 years, the customer made a sweetheart deal and sold the car to her mechanic, the current owner, in 1996.
The 1972 Body-Off restoration included:
  • Engine overhaul (currently 687 miles on rebuilt motor)
  • Repaint in the original cream color
  • Re-upholstering of complete interior
  • New wiring harness
  • Transmission and rear end service
  • Chassis undercoated and repainted
Recent Maintenance:
  • Carburetor freshly rebuilt
  • 4 new wheel cylinders
  • Rebuilt master cylinder
  • New spark plugs
  • New points
  • 4 new tire tubes
  • New gas tank float
  • New (rebuilt) mechanical fuel pump
  • New auxiliary electric fuel pump (for priming)
  • Complete general service (oil, fluids, lube, inspection)
All of the parts shown in the trunk come with the car, which includes multiple gasket sets, the heater (freshly serviced, not currently installed, pictured separately), a set of used sun visors (optional originally, will need to be re-upholstered to match if you choose to use them), the factory radio speaker and components, a replacement set of king pins, and a set of brake hoses, along with various other miscellaneous bits.
A working, freshly rebuilt aftermarket AM radio is installed under the dash. All of the components are there, and complete to make the original radio work. The factory radio speaker has already been redone, but the box needs to be gone through and rebuilt.
Just a few things to note: the gasgauge in the cluster has become erratic, so an under-dash gauge has been installed as a temporary measure. The left rear window has been cracked since the current owner started servicing the car in 1976. The large musical horns pictured in the engine compartment photos are not included with the car. The air cleaner shown in the engine compartment pictures is a smaller replacement, the OEM factory air cleaner is also included with the car. The 1937 license plates will be included with the car only if the seller intends to keep the car in California.
This car is located at the owner's shop near the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles and is available for inspection by appointment Tuesday-Saturday from 7AM-12PM. Clear title, licensed, and insured this car is ready to run and drive anywhere.
